ML Secret Wars

I still have this guy on my fridge all these years later.

Mine’s been hanging out on a metal apron-hanging hook in my kitchen ever since I moved in here, and hung out on my old apartment’s fridge ever since its release way back when. It has literally never been in a bin or anywhere but on prominent display. Those magnets are amazing.

Seeing the Magnetic Spider-Man figure photo made me smile. I love how Toy Biz gave fans backgrounds with their later figures and some really creative accessories. Let's see Hasbro make a J. Jonah Jameson figure with a desk that turns into a Spider-Slayer!

Going back to "Secret Wars", I would really love to see Hasbro make a third wave. Since they said they want to know if fans want a third wave made, I'd imagine it'll be around some time in 2028 if we did see any figures made. But if the third wave is anything like Hasbro's two waves they made, I'm sure the new six figures would be worth the wait.

I'd love Volcana and a classic Owen, but Kang would be superfluous. The two that have already been produced are pretty much perfect imo. And the solo release was even re-released if I'm not mistaken?
Nah, gimme a classic Doom or even the battle-ravaged Doom from the cover of issue #10.

The main thing I miss about the ToyBiz Legends and related lines are the bases & diorama pieces. I still use the destroyed Sentinel bases in my X-Men display.

A new - good- Magneto would work for the line. I don't persoanlly need a new Doc Ock, but it would be OK. A new Hobgoblin since he was in the toy line A classic blue cowled Cyclops.

For me personally I want the Xavier in yellow jumpsuit with big black X, . I want Volcana. I want Thing in his black outfit. A new Wasp figure.

I'm sure they would throw in a blue and red Spidey to help it go down easy.

I don't expect any of that, but I'd like it. (except Spidey... there will always be another Spidey)

And I know people will advocate for new Wrecking Crew figures but I don't see how you devote 2/3 of a wave to them.

Of the first two waves I've purchased or pre-ordered 10 of the 12 figures. I only skipped both Spider-Man figures. Beyonder and Titania were definitely the highlights for me.

If they did a third wave I'd like at least 2 charcters that haven't otherwise been made like ISAAC, Volcana, Zsaji, Nelvanna or Marrina. I'd also like Lockheed's friend Puff as a pack-in with someone. I know that Marrina is rumored for an upcoming BAF wave so that would remove her from this list. Outside of that group it might also be a good opportunity to update Wrecking Crew members.

We know that they'd likely have to do at least 2 A-listers, but I don't even have a recommendation for those because I feel like they've already been covered in the first 2 waves. I don't think that there's anything they could do to make we want to buy another Spider-Man, Wolverine, Thor, Captain America, Doctor Doom or Hulk (basically ever).

A-listers that were in Secret Wars but not yet the Toy Line - Thor, Hulk, Magneto... they could probably get away with being cheeky and putting Wolverine back in with black claws.

There are so many figures that could work for a third wave of "Secret Wars" figures that it's hard to not only pick which should go on the old Retro Mattel box art, but also who would be the biggest sell outs. We can all wish-list for characters like Zsaji, but we all know at least two of them are going to be A-listers. A new classic red-and-blue suit Spider-Man would be very much appreciated on the "Amazing Fantasy" #15 or "Renew Your Vows" body mold, but we have two Spidey figures (even if I didn't personally want the second wave's mind-transformation alien costume Spidey figure) and there are other characters I would like to get instead.

I definitely second new figures of Magneto, The Incredible Hulk, The Mighty Thor, classic Doctor Doom, classic Doctor Octopus with bendable wire tentacles (surprised? ;)), the Hobgoblin, Volcana, Cyclops and Wasp. A new Molecule Man, black suit Thing and yellow jumpsuit Professor X would be cool too. I could see some getting solo releases as Deluxe figures, like maybe Hulk and Doc Ock, like how we got the solo Iceman figure. I also want the Hulk to have a body mold where the chest doesn't crack and break and with alternate heads that have better face sculpts and hair.

As far as the Wrecking Crew, they could always do "Secret Wars" two-packs like what Hasbro did for the 3 and 3/4 inch line and do those two-packs, like Piledriver with Hawkeye and Spider-Man with Thunderball. Or they could go back to what Mattel did in the '80s and have two-packs of Captain America with Doctor Doom, Doctor Octopus with Spider-Man, Iron Man with Kang and Magneto with Wolverine. Personally, I'm surprised that none of the original Mattel villain figures from the original first wave - Dr. Doom, Doc Ock, Kang and Magneto, respectively - got the Retro "Secret Wars" treatment yet. I can see why for Kang, but Doc Ock really needs an updated body mold with bendable tentacles after the "static" tentacles of his last two comic based figures, I know some folks were disappointed by the "X-Men '97" Magneto and Hasbro hasn't gotten the look for classic Dr. Doom quite right yet.

I expect there to be four waves in total, enough to finish off the Mattel line:
Wave 3 (late 2026/early 2027)
Dr. Doom - coinciding with the release of Avengers: Doomsday
Magneto
Wolverine - black claws
Electro

Wave 4 (2028)
Spider-Man (classic blue and red)
Hobgoblin
Kang (gives them enough time between this release and the former Kang on his throne)

Doc Ock will be a deluxe on a larger card.

Non-Mattel Secret Wars characters that I think have the best shot at filling in the rest of Wave 3 and 4:
Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman
Thing - black singlet
Cyclops
Thor
Storm - Secret Wars costume
Rogue - Secret Wars costume, which will include the "correct" head we all expected to get in the Rogue/Destiny set.
Hulk on a larger card

I don't see Hasbro giving us Wasp in her Secret Wars costume.
Also notice who I left off - Volcana. They don't have a proper scale body and I really doubt they will make of just for her. Plus there's that whole "is she naked/how can we make her and not anger the puritans" debate. I don't see them making Volcana any time soon... or ever.

Here's how I would rock out the next two Secret Wars waves if I were given the reigns. Sure, they are a bit villain heavy, but y'all know we need more villains. Note* all waves have A/B-list anchors.

Wave 3-->
Volcana
Molecule Man
Thunderball
Bulldozer
Classic Spider-Man
Magneto

Wave 4-->
Dr. Doom
Klaw
Wrecker
Piledriver
Thing (all-new classic sculpt)
Shadowcat

And, after those two waves broke all previous sales records, and an additional wave was greenlit...

Wave 5-->
Stretching Mr. Fantastic
Ultron
Dr. Octopus
Human Torch (opaque NOT translucent)
Lizard
Hobgoblin

Give me those three waves and I'm all good. All I need from there is a Battleworld!!

Also notice who I left off - Volcana. They don't have a proper scale body and I really doubt they will make of just for her. Plus there's that whole "is she naked/how can we make her and not anger the puritans" debate. I don't see them making Volcana any time soon... or ever.
If they can release this they can release Volcana!

@Beamish If there's a third wave, it'd be more like 2027/2028 in terms of release. Unless Hasbro is surprising us with some single figure releases like they did with Iceman, I don't see a third wave coming out so quickly, even though I would welcome it with open arms. I could see Wave 3 being more like red-and-blue classic costume Spider-Man or Wolverine with different paint and black claws, Dr. Doom, Volcana or Magneto, She-Hulk or Spider-Woman, an X-Man like Cyclops or Storm, and Mr. Fantastic. That said, I would completely welcome new figures for Electro, Hobgoblin, Kang, Baron Zemo (he was from the Mattel wave, he counts), Spider-Woman, Thing, Cyclops, Thor, Rogue and the Hulk. Wasp is unlikely, but I could see them doing that green-and-purple suit for her eventually. I still think a "Secret Wars" wish list thread from @Beamish would be fun to see who fans would vote for and who would make the cut for its poll. Aside from Jack of Hearts, of course. ;)

@Lucid Silverback I like the way you think with the "Secret Wars" waves, but I highly doubt they'd give us that many villains for a "Secret Wars" wave, as cool as it would be. I especially love the ideas for the Lizard and a non-translucent Human Torch. Mr. Fantastic needs bendable wire "stretched" accessories again, provided they're as long as the bendable wire tentacles of the animated Doc Ock figure. As I've said, the Hulk, Thor, Doc Ock with bendy wire tentacles, classic Dr. Doom, classic red-and-blue Spider-Man, Mr. Fantastic, Thing (classic trunks AND black suit versions) Cyclops, classic Lizard, Volcana, Magneto, and even Wasp are all must-buys for me. Electro, Hobgoblin (with a glider that stays on his feet and an actual classic mask head sculpt this time, please, Hasbro) and the Wrecking Crew all would be too. I'd also love to see Colossus and Nightcrawler on the Retro box art too. There are enough characters from "Secret Wars" for Hasbro to pick from and made into Retro carded figures for a good long while, if they keep releasing figures as good as the first two waves.

Yeah I was thinking they feel the need to complete the Mattel line...at 1st I thought they might do the "foreign" releases as singles like they did with Ice man... but I guess not!

I would love a onesie Thing with boots!
