McFarlane DC Multiverse

Not sure if this has been covered but does anyone else here think that the rumored Superman Red & Superman blue 2-pack is Todd’s big SDCC exclusive? I’m wondering if he would go all out for something like this since it’s technically his big crescendo before his final send off later in the fall. I’m picturing that the figures will have translucent bodies, some kind of light up display base or maybe even lights inside the figures. Also it would be cool if they came with new electric parts too.

More than likely this is a nice fantasy in my head but it would be nice to see

I’ve wondered for years (decades) why Todd hasn’t been more proactive amongst the comic community in terms of action figures. Outside of Spawn and DC, I’d guesstimate that’s he’s done less than 50 comic figures out of the thousands of figures he’s produced. Image or Image adjacent especially.

I owned the Danger Girls. I owned the Crimson figures. I eagerly anticipated the Battle Chasers figures which never made it to production. There’s so much over the last 30 odd years that would’ve made great figures. And I don’t believe that it’s too late. Give us a Danger Girls update. And Cry for Dawn, and Marv. Youngblood would be cool. Probably too late for Wetworks. How about comic accurate, fully articulated and painted 7” Walking Dead figures? The humans anyway.

I’m really hoping that Hellboy, Savage Dragon and the rest are trial balloons for 2027.

Todd doesn’t technically have access to anything related to windstorm or Youngblood. Youngblood is wholly owned by Rob Liefeld and Jim Lee took wildstorm with him when he accepted a leadership position at DC Comics

I don't know anything but am expecting this 2-pack just to be a re-release of figures that he's already done. My expectation is that it's the figures from the Plastic Man wave, but it could also be more like the versions from the Strange Lives of Superman Collectors Edition figures. Either way, I'm expecting straight re-issues (but either would include something that was a chase variant before).

Personally I’m hoping for the SA “Imaginary Story” Superman Blue/Red 2-pack.

Oh I know. Everything at Image is individually owned and repped. Wildstorm is DC now and Liefeld is…complicated. Todd has to buy all the individual licenses to accomplish this. Maybe not so expensive as it is tedious and time consuming.

Todd seems to do pretty well with comic licenses. It’s why I’m genuinely curious as to why he hasn’t perused it more over the past 30 years. Image, of course, would’ve been a natural choice and optimal given his partners involvement. But it’s really a general point. Valiant? Vampirella? More Sin City? More Walking Dead? Tons of non Marvel/DC stuff to pick from. Why’d it take this long for Hellboy?

2027 could be interesting looking past DC/Mattel and Marvel/Hasbro.
