McFarlane DC Multiverse

Not sure if this has been covered but does anyone else here think that the rumored Superman Red & Superman blue 2-pack is Todd’s big SDCC exclusive? I’m wondering if he would go all out for something like this since it’s technically his big crescendo before his final send off later in the fall. I’m picturing that the figures will have translucent bodies, some kind of light up display base or maybe even lights inside the figures. Also it would be cool if they came with new electric parts too.

More than likely this is a nice fantasy in my head but it would be nice to see

I’ve wondered for years (decades) why Todd hasn’t been more proactive amongst the comic community in terms of action figures. Outside of Spawn and DC, I’d guesstimate that’s he’s done less than 50 comic figures out of the thousands of figures he’s produced. Image or Image adjacent especially.

I owned the Danger Girls. I owned the Crimson figures. I eagerly anticipated the Battle Chasers figures which never made it to production. There’s so much over the last 30 odd years that would’ve made great figures. And I don’t believe that it’s too late. Give us a Danger Girls update. And Cry for Dawn, and Marv. Youngblood would be cool. Probably too late for Wetworks. How about comic accurate, fully articulated and painted 7” Walking Dead figures? The humans anyway.

I’m really hoping that Hellboy, Savage Dragon and the rest are trial balloons for 2027.

Todd doesn’t technically have access to anything related to windstorm or Youngblood. Youngblood is wholly owned by Rob Liefeld and Jim Lee took wildstorm with him when he accepted a leadership position at DC Comics

I don't know anything but am expecting this 2-pack just to be a re-release of figures that he's already done. My expectation is that it's the figures from the Plastic Man wave, but it could also be more like the versions from the Strange Lives of Superman Collectors Edition figures. Either way, I'm expecting straight re-issues (but either would include something that was a chase variant before).

Personally I’m hoping for the SA “Imaginary Story” Superman Blue/Red 2-pack.

Oh I know. Everything at Image is individually owned and repped. Wildstorm is DC now and Liefeld is…complicated. Todd has to buy all the individual licenses to accomplish this. Maybe not so expensive as it is tedious and time consuming.

Todd seems to do pretty well with comic licenses. It’s why I’m genuinely curious as to why he hasn’t perused it more over the past 30 years. Image, of course, would’ve been a natural choice and optimal given his partners involvement. But it’s really a general point. Valiant? Vampirella? More Sin City? More Walking Dead? Tons of non Marvel/DC stuff to pick from. Why’d it take this long for Hellboy?

2027 could be interesting looking past DC/Mattel and Marvel/Hasbro.

Just received by Collectors bundle from MTS. They all look good. Supergirl looks better in person. The Joker works for me. Looks good enough to fit in with the other movie figures without looking like Jack with prosthetics and makeup. My Batman bundle just shipped today as well (label made).

My observation is that Todd barely even makes any Spawn figures anymore, which his own wholly owned character. I think we're down to a handful of figures per year. That's his own license and he's evidently determined that it's not a profitable line to more aggressively promote. If Spawn isn't worth it to him, it's harder to see him investing to do a lot beyond that. The Elite price point on the "Founder's Line" tells me that he knows that he won't sell enough units so has to make it up for it in the price point to make it worthwhile. There are very few IPs that I'm willing to pay a $60 price point for - especially when he continues to use outdated pinned joints technology and "diapers" and such on his figures.

I complained a few days back about Gamestop having trouble processing my payment and me being suspicious that it was either phishing attempts or a glitch. I still do not know if it was phishing attempts or a glitch but I did just get the "it's not Jack we swear" Joker and he's... aw, hell, he's CLOSE ENOUGH. I'm fine with it. I like it enough. And Supergirl should be here this week. I had pinged Customer Service to make sure they weren't having trouble with my card (literally said - it looks like phishing but just making sure!) and they didn't respond until Joker actually shipped. No sign of Black Canary yet but they did say the payment was pending on that one and I was all set.

So now I neeed to wonder if I'll get the crotchless fishnets version, Ace? :D

I got hit with payments for my multiple shipments of Jeff Michaelson 89 Joker. Why did I need 6 you ask. Because I'm really crying on the inside.

I think Red/Blue Supes will likely be the energy beings from the 2000s JLA since Red was a little more difficult to get than blue and blue's not exactly cheap anymore either.

Got Pyg and Blackhawk, those might be the first McFarlane figs I bought this year, not really sure. Both do a solid job of reusing existing parts, especially since I'm not all that deeply familiast with the characters. Pyg, I think, is 10/10. Love the headsculpt, the size of this guy, the accessories. Got a few gripes with BH, though, because I'm not the biggest fan of those Riddler legs on him. The pants and boots don't match the air force military style of the WW2 era, they're as far from it, actualy, as anything else they could've used. Gonna go through my fodder to see if I find anything more suitable and closer to the card art.

Also, still dying every time I see the name Janos Prohaska. It's as close to a Polish name as calling a French guy Johann Spaziergang.

Has anybody received Supergirl or Capt Marvel Jnr from GameStop?

Nervously awaiting mine, really do not want chase variants. Historically this has not gone well…..

My pre-orders were with EE rather than Gamestop. The only one I haven't gotten yet from the wave is Canary. I actually like the Osiris variant of Captain Marvel much better than the standard version. I've had multiple figures of Freddy in the past but I don't think that I've ever had an Amon figure before. I still have the DC Direct figure of his sister Osiris.

I do like both versions of that figure, though - even though I wish they had used a different head sculpt on the chase.

I did receive the Injustice Gang Batman from Gamestop just yesterday, though. That was the only one that I ordered from that wave. I can't remember if that went up before after the Collectors Edition Wave.
