Bobby may be petty and egotistical, most of these big brands we talk about on here are much more soulless and evil just IMO.
It's a false equivalency, is the problem. How many people work at Hasbro? What percentage of your yearly Joe purchases go to the CEO? If you spend 100,000 dollars on Joe toys in a YEAR, you haven't even paid Lenny's wage yet. The idea that there is no ethical consumption under Capitalism was never intended to be an ad-hoc excuse to do nothing, or support the worst people. A giant company with 5000 employees is a different beast in every category than a mom-and-pop shop without the mom.
You can give your money to a company that disperses that revenue across hundreds of people, and has a shitty owner. Or you can give ALL of that money directly to a shitty owner. The choice should be clear. The only thing making it muddy is 'but I want the toys.' That is literally the beginning and end of the rationale. And it is what it is. Everyone gets to make their own choices. I just wish people would be honest about the choices they're making. Call a spade a spade.
