Action Force and Valaverse

Here's the 1/12 stuff. Their swords are fuckin awesome. I wish they had more tsuba desigsns. But for the price, and the way they're made, those swords are awesome. Much better then anything Hasbro has done, and again, so cheap. I love them. If I could replace all the swords I have with them I would be ecstatic, but they would all look exactly the same since they only have one tsuba design, no variety. So again, limited selection.

I had a 3d-printed Megatron-in-gun-mode for my Cobra Commander that I got on Etsy. It eventually snapped in half so I've been a little cautions of the Gridiron weapons I do have.

So far it's just an M2 get-up for Roadblock and the AR that came with it. What has mostly turned me off of Gridiron is when they started putting their skull logo on everything.

Yeah and in prominent places too

Maurder’s 1/12 stuff is closer to actual 1/12 than Hasbro’s “1/12” so they run small.

Honestly with Marauder, I’d kinda just wait to see if they ever actually do a six inch line of their own since they did the six inch Skeletron figures

But MCU also runs small vs comic, usually, so maybe..? YouTube time.

The Technodrome is the same way. Talk about a forum chock full of antisocial, gatekeeping weirdos. Just so, SO unwelcoming and aggressive and needlessly insulting to anyone that isn't a part of their "club". Heaven forbid you don't fit their criteria of what constitutes a TMNT fan, or dare to ask a question that you should apparently know the answer to. They suck.
I don't think I've found an action figure forum for a specific brand that isn't overrun with weirdos. HISStank, Technodrome, and Lord almighty, He-man.org (the only forum I've ever been banned from!)

Maybe just being solely into one property brings out the cookiest of fanatics versus somewhere like here where most of us are into a variety of different things.

I remember they did that one movie Widow that came with the deluxe stand and explosions. And that stand is still available for purchase on pulse. But it felt to me like that was the start of them trying something, it didn't work like they wanted it, and they just moved on without any adjusting. As they tend to do.
I kinda think there's some of that still going around, they're just timid about it. Certainly the Joe anniversary figs are decked out. They all have enough firepower for two figures each. And they have dabbled in some more accessory heavy offerings in some of the licensed multi-packs. Thinking of some of the Black series stuff and things like the Punisher two packs. Also there's the Maximum line. It's not yet a full on accessory pack, but I don't think it's off the table. I saw someone speculate some months back about Black series doing Jedi vs Sith accessory packs with sabers and holocrons. I hope that happens and I'll likely pick it up if it does.

There's something to that. The only reddit I ever frequented was the D&D one, and I had to eventually drop it because it was just exhausting. Once it became wall-to-wall people talking about using AI to make (extremely mid) adventures and threads re-starting the editions wars I was out.

I also think there's a lot to be said for active moderation both official and within a community. I feel like, at least at the moment, this place self-polices pretty well. And that's probably because we're all a subset of a subset. Folks who came here after Fwoosh basically became defunct. If this place ever starts to grow quickly outside that subset, I suspect moderation will need to be a lot more aggressive to keep the vibes good.

I wonder if anybody's joined this group after the initial setup and transition from Fwoosh. We're only, like, #16 on a Google search for figure forums.

I imagine if we're growing it's extremely slowly. I think by and large folks looking for figure forums are going to hub sites like Reddit. Or as Alt says, just going to Instagram. I'm sure a lot just drift into youtube toy reviewer comment sections. I think this style of forum is an artifact of the old internet.

It's really embarrassing to admit, but I recognize people across different YouTube channels in the comments, did to "username avatar hot take".

Sometimes it's like oh man, you also must collect obscure third party Japanese figures, because here you are. But I still don't want to talk to you.

I can't imagine trying to hold conversations in a comments section, but maybe that's the point. You don't have to read what anybody else says, you just say your piece and go.

I've tried a couple times to join a Discord group, and I don't know how anything gets discussed without subgroups and specific topic threads.

Plus some of their bigger toy discords tend to be filled with, um, “interesting” people

I hate Discord for large groups unless it is well managed. Not moderated. Just organised. The only one that I will tolerate is the one for the record label that I work with. It almost operates exactly like this forum with the special interests and discussions.

And yeah I could never use YouTube comments to hold the discussion. Anytime I try to offer some insight because someone asked a question, I always regret what happens in the hours afterwards and I end up deleting it because I don't even want to have a footprint

It's so dire.
