Wrestling Toys (Mattel WWE, Jazwares AEW, etc.)

You're talking about the MOTU-style figures, right? The Bret Hart wave is still shipping? I thought that was LONG gone. Maybe there's a chance for me to have a Bret Hart yet.

Haven't seen a new WWE item locally, at any store, for months. Same stuff every time.
Yep, those are the ones. The Wave with Bret and Jim Neidhart still ships quite a bit around here in Ohio. But I can never find Bret. I always find the others in the Wave.

Today on the shipper they had WWE Superstars figures of Great Muta, Diesel, Cactus Jack, Jim Neidhart, Eddie Guererro, Zeus, Iron Shiek and maybe some others. But no Bret.

Canada only gets part-cases of a lot of this kind of stuff. So we get Diesel and Iron Shiek. And that's it. Full cases. Only way I'll ever have Bret is if he becomes too common in the US and ends up all over eBay for retail as scalpers try to offload all their overstock.

I may have goofed trying to save a few dollars. Last week, Target had a sale, save $10 when buying $40 worth of toys. I canceled my preorder for Terry Funk and Muta to re-preorder at the sale price. Funk was shipped, but my Muta is in backorder while other people have had him ship. On top of that, I saved only $6. I didn't notice Target had raised the price from the $22.99 when I preordered to the current $24.99.

I haven't really watched wrasslin' (that's the correct spelling, I don't care what anyone says) since I was a kid...which was a LONG time ago. I have nothing but respect for the performers, and I totally see the appeal of the high camp, over-the-top nature of the matches, but I just haven't followed it much in my adult life. That having been said, there are certain wrasslers I love, even if I've never really followed their storylines. Guys like Mick Foley spring to mind, as I read his autobiography years ago at the suggestion of a friend. In more recent years, I've really come to love Danhausen, as he has shown up on things like The Last Drive-in With Joe Bob Briggs.

I've been highly tempted to get figures of the personalities from my childhood, like Rowdy Roddy Piper or Andre the Giant, but I KNOW that is a rabbit hole I'd best not go down. I have friends with huge wrasslin' figure collections, and I can easily see myself doing the same thing...even though the last time I actually followed it regularly Cyndi Lauper was involved! I DID pick up a Roddy Piper figure once that featured his appearance from They Live...I justified that one by putting him with my horror figures. Oh, and I once stumbled across a Danhausen figure in Target, so I had to get him (he also hangs out on the horror shelf. Other than those, I have found a few recently at Ross of performers I am completely unfamiliar with...but I grabbed them for customs (mainly to be victims in...you guessed it...my horror display).

but I KNOW that is a rabbit hole I'd best not go down.
Yes, absolutely.
Speaking of which; Mattel just showed off a three-pack of Bret Hart, Stone Cold, and referee Ken Shamrock. I'm toast. My will is broken. It's a Walmart Exclusive, though. So everyone needs to remember Uncle Damien when they're out shopping.

Some decent stuff here. It's always fun to browse all the new figures. Might get Ultimate AJ Styles. Pretty poor showing for the female figures imo.

I saw a bunch of stuff I want. I'll get the Elites of Penta, Carmelo Hayes, the Creed Brothers, Oba Femi, Je'von Evans, and probably Iyo with the trash can even though I already have the Elite Iyo. I just pre-ordered the AEW Mariah May/Blake Monroe from RSC too. I think Mattel's WWE panel is about to start, hopefully they reveal Elites of Stephanie Vaquer, Nathan Frazer, and Rey Fenix. Probably too early for a Caution Naomi so soon after the one that just came out but I'd snap one up.

Since I wasn't trading VHS tapes back in the day, the internet age that brought file sharing and YouTube videos pushed Bull Nakano really high into my favorite list. I would've preferred a look from a Japan match (maybe a heavy metal shirt over a swimsuit), but this is understandable. This is the low-key, under the radar figure I want most

I've wanted a Giulia figure since forever.

It's good to see guys like Koko getting a figure, who was so close years ago

Guilia, Stephanie Vaquer, Chyna, and new Ultimate Rhea all look like good figures. It'll be nice to see them in plastic.

I am so fucking pissed that we're getting a WM13 boxed set with Bret, Steve, and Ken, but the bloody version of the Stone Cold head is ONLY on a different Stone Cold figure that you can only get from Ringside. What the fuck, Mattel?

I saw a pic from SDCC of UE Tiffany with a new waist that appears to be a ball joint. Unfortunately, all the elites still have a waist cut, but the render of UE Chelsea appears to have the new articulation.

That's cool. I didn't actually notice that, but I didn't pay much attention to the Tiffany figure, to be fair.
