What are your “Grails”?

Well, if we're gonna talk about figures that haven't been made yet ...

A couple of years ago I took my personal copy of All-Winners# 8 with me to Comic-Con. I went to the Hasbro booth, walked up to where Dwight, Dan and Ryan were standing, held the comic in front of them and yelled "WHEN!?!?!? FOR THE LOVE OF ODIN, WHEN YOU GUYS!?!?!? WHEN!?!?!?"

Dan said "You want us to make a jeep?
" Ryan said "You want us to make really small, out of scale airplanes?" Dwight said "You want us to make a globe with a bunch of little guys running across it?"

See? This is what I have to deal with. Every year. Year after year. It's a miracle I'm not sitting in a padded room somewhere drooling into a cup.

Just kidding, Dwight and Dan! Love you guys!

Now PUH-LEEEEEEASE give me my Invaders. Pretty please with sugar on it. Thank you. 🙏

For made ones it's SDCC things I missed. Ghost and Satanna from Thunderbolts. Dreadknight and Purple Man from the Raft.. Blastaar. As others have said at this point I'd rather have single release updates.

My understanding of a grail is an item that is so hard to come by, it’s almost legendary in terms of how difficult and rare it is to find. By that definition, I have no grails. I own everything I want and don’t really seek out anything I missed at this point in my collecting.

Like the F4 Classics Doombot. Never showed up here, but I don’t really need it for my collection. For a little while, it was NECA’s old Ghostbusters movie figures, but better versions have come along since.

Fun thread idea! As a big vintage figure collector, I have loads of stuff I doubt I'll ever see/ be able to justify buying. A few choices members of that club:

- Kenner Bigfoot (Six Million Dollar Man)
- Mattel Kraken (Clash of the Titans)
- Mattel Rodan (Shogun Warriors)
- Bandai King Kong (King Kong vs. Godzilla)
- OG Bullmark Baragon

And then there's things I wish existed, which is obscure monsters & bronze age super-heroes:

- ML Kitty Pryde (Training Uniform)
- ML New Mutants
- Leon from Hammer's "The Curse of the Werewolf"
- articulated Ray Harryhausen figures
- the kaiju of Space Amoeba:

Released: I still have to get Elektra in her white outfit but I've been holding off waiting for the price to go down when she inevitably gets a new classic red figure. I guess that's not really a grail, like it's not tough to find copies of like some things I have (The Bedflowers' demo cassette) and some things I don't (an Angel Terminators II poster and the Meiko Kaji doll from Sengoku Rock Hagure Kiba that's...on Etsy right now? Holy crap).

Unreleased: They are never going to make a Troll figure and I will never come to terms with that.

If we're not doing toys, it's:

My Hook-Ups Charlie's Angels silhouette skateboard and shirt. My little brother borrowed it and it rolled into the road right under a passing car in perfect timing one college summer.

And the redhead nurse hugging the giant needle Hook-Ups shirt.

While the board company still exists, it's all bespoke small batch drops and they've never released either design as a board or shirt that I have seen the past decade. They did put the designs in a sticker pack recently, so hope.

The board I've never found, but I have seen OG shirts on etsy, never in XL, but even if, I'm not paying triple digits for a used T-shirt just because my evil ex discarded them all.

I just looked up their stuff and it truly rules, I'm sorry that happened to you.

I've slowly been building back some apparel and wall decks, but it's like he's avoiding the mid-late 90s stuff.

I could wear sexy nurse and anime cheesecake all day at school, but my 7 of 9 shirt got me sent to the Vice Principal. Okay.

A friend of mine had a shirt of Peter Boyle from Everybody Loves Raymond that said, "Holy crap!" But our school made him partially cover it with masking tape, which only made it better: Peter Boyle exclaiming, "Holy Rap!" What an MC he would have made.

Nothing previously manufactured is a grail for me; only unmade figures would be considered as such:

-Warlock (classic Bronze Age all the way, Starlin-inspired , either the lightning bolt costume or the caped redesign, soul jewel on forehead and bare legs and arms
-Swordsman (Bronze Age)
-Mantis
-Valkyrie (BA, with or without Aragorn)
-a new, classic Wrecking Crew
Seconded. Very much this.
