I recently discovered Mother's Finest. I'm so mad I never heard of this band until I heard the gang from Sea Of Tranquility raving about them. I like Funk and I like Hard Rock, so finding out this excellent band has been around since the early '70s (like me

) I feel I really missed out all these years. They are really all over musically after their 3rd & 4th (released) albums of the above genre putting out 1st an R & B record, then a Metal album--which are also great on their own merits. But those 2 Hard Funk Rock albums hit the sweet spot for me and represent how they've played live the entirety of their career to this day. What's funny is they didn't change their setlist whether they were opening for The Commadores or Black Sabbath.
They have 2 singers and solid musicians (the guitarist has some killer riffs/solos and the bass player is called Wyzard for a reason), but the star of the band is undoubtedly singer Joyce "Baby Jean" Kennedy. Imagine Tina Turner or Aretha Franklin belting out Hard Rock/Metal. She's amazing!
Currently their most popular song on YT and from 1 of the early albums:
Their biggest (only?) hit from their R & B record. I was surprised I knew this one; not from their original version, but from all the covers I've heard:
My favorite track from the Metal album:
