U.S. Politics

It had to have been Kingdom Come content. That was my only "breach". I just thought that was interesting. The way politics and the algorithm work is interesting.
To be fair, KCD has a huge white supremacy problem rooted in the game being unapologetically set in a predominantly white, Christian country. To be clear, I -agree- with the decision to not have inclusivity for the sake of inclusivity. If you're portraying a real historical period and place, I think you should stick to what we know to be true about that place. BUT, refusing to do 'inclusivity for inclusivity's sake' also made it seem, right or wrong, like the dev just wanted to make a 'whites only' game. Which, to be fair, I actually don't think is true.
Hilariously, you can make your Henry gay/bi in KCD2 and the right-wingers that have defended this series as a 'white history game' went batshit. Pure cinema.

My own reading over the years is that he can have all right beliefs but I do think the game comes from a place of authentic interest.

I'm with you and that I don't think that was the intention.

Yeah. It's worth noting that 'sum of its parts' applies here. Vavra has pushed the envelope in terms of it being fair to characterize him as a white supremacist. He might also just be a fucking troll. It's really hard to say. But the -rest- of the studio has never done anything to suggest they agree with that kind of stuff.
Even Vavra's biggest claim to fame in that community besides wearing a Burzum shirt (if you know, you know) was that he got angry about being dragged into what he called 'culture wars' and said he just wanted to make a fucking video game and not worry about whether he was ticking boxes. Which, again, I completely agree with.

It's also fair to point out that the entire team was lambasted by our friends on the 'tolerante Left' for not having enough diversity and not following what we 'know' the historical diversity of the area was, while the team was working in line with direction from some of the leading historians on medieval Bohemia. So I also kind of get that Vavra was probably very pissed off and sick of the bullshit.
I mean, good chance he's got problematic views. I don't KNOW that he does. But he might. What I do know is that all games set in medieval Europe or its analogs attract white supremacists for some reason, so the community around them is just always going to skew that way. Which sucks. Because they are always way more racist than history actually was.

it's astounding on how much he wants to kill babies

his ego doesn't allow sharing even when it comes to peace agreements

I love history to the point that I got a college degree in it, but now just about any web forum or social media account with a focus on European history will ALWAYS have some neo-Nazis lurking around the fringes. They used to stick to places like 4chan and The Daily Stormer, but they broke containment during Trump's first term and now they're everywhere. And Israel's current war with Hamas has created a highly receptive audience of young, uneducated kids looking to social media for easy answers and validation of their feelings.

Daniel Vavra is one of the types who throws woke and witch hunt and SJW around and then claims It's Just Jokes Bro when he hedges closer to offense. He's like gaming's Vala in personality. That's just been the case since KD1. But again, I just can't police to that level on a game. For me it's easier with a comic book since usually the writer is like 60% of the force behind it, as opposed to a movie which is a big team effort.

Maybe that's unfair, but it seems like a lot of my heroes who are acceptable in the first place became s*** anyway over time so I'm just kind of done.

Anyway, my main point was how gross the algorithm is at tying those conspiracy boards together in the name of engagement.
