U.S. Politics

Excuses for 'jokes' about gas chambers, watermelon and chicken people, n-words.

There can be no clearer proof that there is no 'far right', there's just the right. And they're all on board.
I've been saying for almost 2 decades that they're all the same. It wasn't until VERY recently that anyone else seemed to actually agree. All I usually heard was the 'stop painting them all with the same brush' stuff. And look where we are.

The small enjoyment I had today about America was some dude on Facebook reels. White man. Had some sort of business with importing and exporting product and it involved labour which he clearly had lots of under the table immigrants doing.

He must have made a series of videos by the time I caught this one, but he is now crying actual tears and begging for funding because his business was destroyed by the tariffs and immigration actions.

So of course everyone laughed at him because, you know the whole leopards will never eat my face. But this prompted his video that I saw where he's just saying it doesn't matter who you vote for, we should all be compassionate for each other and it's about community and helping each other out and kindness.

Which of course just made everyone laugh harder at him.

Including me, if I saw him I'd probably kick him in the teeth just for fun. Oh how the turntables turn.

I'm sorry man but like any of these people jumping ships like any of these dude bro podcasters lately. You can jump. But I hope you drown. You need to drown.

Grim.

We could discuss whether all right-wing ideas lead to the same place, but Republican staffers being actual Hitler-worshipping Nazis is a new phenomenon. This is the impact of the internet and people like Charlie Kirk.

That Tweet absolutely moves the goalpost. Republicans have always been Nazi KKK supporting loons that hate working class people (at least for my entire lifetime, that is). The fact that they weren't so brazenly obvious and open about it is immaterial. Some of us have been saying this is what they ALL are for years and no one believed us.

Being in the White House used to mean something. There was an inherent level of competence and decency. That all went out the window with Trump, who possesses neither.

The inmates run the asylum now. Not one person in the White House cares about materially improving the life of your average American. It's all grift and grievance. The administration is populated by the most despicable sycophants in the country.

Of course, we could argue that Republicans have been on this trajectory since Nixon or Reagan, but something fundamentally broke when Trump walked in. The adults left the room. The handshake agreements that upheld the rule of law were turned aside in favor of the quickest way to make a buck.

I'm walking a fine line with this point because of what the Republican Party has been for decades. Bush lied about WMDs and tortured people. Newt Gingrich was as bad-faith as anyone. Dennis Hastert was literally a pedophile. But—at the end of the day—you knew they'd peacefully hand over power. I won't romanticize the politics of yore and say we only disagreed over tax policy, but today's America is unrecognizable in ways that my '90s kid brain can't fully process.

I was saying earlier today Republicans have always been like this, but 20, 30 years ago the party would've disavowed them, got all those losers jobs at Bain or McKinsey so they can be rich and fuck people over professionally, and just swept them out of politics publicly. But today we have the VP of the United States defending them with the "I know you are but what am I" defense. It's the same Nazi-worshiping cumstains, they just don't have the shame to go take a seven-figure contracting job and go away when they get found out.
