Blue states need to threaten secession soon.

I was strongly in favor of it when Trump took office in January. I've since cooled. I think the next two elections as America's last chance. I would hate to see blue states bail and leave all my friends in red/purple states high and dry.

Seceding abandons friends, relatives, and neighbors as badly as fucking off to another country (another argument I hate, because as someone who HAS changed countries, you cannot just fuck off to Australia or whatever, other counties need a reason to want you there). Also the way this administration plays, they will absolutely send the military in to take you over if you secede, and like, Massachusetts doesn't have that kind of firepower. I wish these bastards would just found their own Dickheadistan and leave us behind, but they need Blue State tax money to fund their grift and they need blue-collar class labor to maintain it. Otherwise they'd all just live on Epstein's island.

This dumb-as-rocks motherfucker. His argument is that settled law is never really settled (until it's settled the way he wants). Then in his very next sentence he says, "But it should — the precedent should be respectful of our legal tradition..." What the fuck does he think stare decisis is?!

"We never go to the front see who's driving the train, where is it going. And you could go up there in the engine room, find it's an orangutan driving the train, but you want to follow that just because it's a train." Maybe YOU don't go to the front of the train, but everyone else on the court knows who set the precedent and why. What a stupid, hollow metaphor.

I flit back and forth between "it's over" and "it's not." Today was an "it's over" day.

SCOTUS isn't even pretending anymore. This is Constitution 101 shit. If they won't rule against Trump here, what hope do we have? They'll nullify California's partisan redistricting and okay the same practice in Texas, Missouri, etc.

Another Constitution 101 case is on the docket. Like the power of the purse, it can't be interpreted any other way.

I suspect I know how they'll rule. It's easy to predict where this goes from here. Trump is allowed on the ballot in 2028. Trump loses in a landslide. Surprise: SCOTUS says he won.

I won't spell this out any further for obvious reasons, but they're playing with real fire here. The breakdown of civil society would not be good for anyone.

Pretty sure SCOTUS has been filled in on the Republican playbook that seems to be in effect in most red states.

While in power give the Republicans/President everything and anything they want/need to control everything. Then once they are about to lose power, or lose power, go back on everything you said/did so that the Democrats can't do anything.

I won't be surprised in the least if the Democrats somehow manage to get back all three branches of government in 2028 that the supreme court will suddenly have a change of heart and all the power they are giving to Trump et al will suddenly once again be unconstitutional and they will say things are different even though they are the exact same justices who ruled the other way.

If that were to happen I would be in favour of a Democratic president ignoring their rulings limiting the "new" presidential powers and packing the courts in Democrats favour.

Honestly... the minute, very the very minute, that the Supreme Court ruled presidents are de-facto kings on all 'official' issues, Biden should have made an official proclamation that all MAGA politicians, including those very Supreme Court members, are traitors and had them all, including Trump, executed without a trial. Period. As an 'official act' he'd be immune to prosecution even if the new Supreme Court goes back and says 'actually, that is not constitutional.' And America would have literally been saved from a Christo-fascist take-over. But Biden, as usual, did nothing. Because he was a punk-ass little bitch afraid of his own shadow.
