In the interest of being both fair and also SO balanced; Liberals have almost just as bad of a track record with issues like autism. As a lefty, I used to get into outright verbal brawls with people that were full out spouting eugenics and either didn't realize it, or didn't think it was technically problematic in this specific case. The whole 'I don't vaccinate my kids against deadly illnesses because it can cause autism crowd,' who are outright saying the child is better off dead than autistic.

MOST of that attitude seems to have come out of the liberal new age Whole Foods soccer mom crowd. Liberals were absolutely fucking terrible for spreading around bad science and eugenics as a fun hobby for many years. And it's still one of the most effective liberal-to-conservative pipelines, particularly for women, in my view.

Oh, 200%. The crunchy-mom-to-MAGA-karen pipeline is kinda undefeated. And the trouble is, it starts from some reasonable places: ultra-processed food is unhealthy and our health care is profit driven and deeply inequitable when it comes to treating women, especially for conditions that disproportionately affect them like chronic pain. Hard to argue with that. They just follow those perfectly sane complaints down some ignorant pathways and that's how you end up listening to a guy who looks like he just crawled out of the Pet Semetary tell you what's healthy.

The more I sit with current events, the more I realize that I don't think I even hate these psycho Right-wingers anymore. I nothing them. They are such cartoon villains that my brain almost can't process they exist. And, at the same time, you don't blame the scorpion for stinging you, to borrow a parable. It is simply the nature of conservatives to be vile, evil, hateful monsters.

The people I hate are Democrats. Cowardly, simpering, pathetic, do-nothing, willing accomplices to evil. Over and over in this thread we've half-jokingly written up better responses to the current crises than Dems have managed to drum up in the last two decades. It's sickeningly pathetic.


Literally everything Trump says and makes up can be turned around and SO easily used against him, and no one is willing to do it because of some bullshit 'decorum' they're clinging to. They want to sit around playing at the high road while people are dying miserably. Fuck every one of them.

Okay, as someone whose job it was to shut off escalators at night at a museum I worked at as a kid... escalators are not hard to fuck up. they're the fainting goat of machinery, if you sneeze at them too hard they shut down. It's by design, because the manufacturers don't want someone's idiot toddler turned into hamburger. If teenagers were playing on the escalators inappropriately we'd shut them off and watch the kids eat shit when they tipped over.

The escalators at my local mall are always broken, though usually only in one direction (up). Either they're really hard to maintain, or it's a sinister plot by the stores that have their own escalators so you have to go inside them or walk all the way to the lone staircase and elevator by the food court.
