U.S. Politics

some coworkers needed to discuss Kimmel, at work... with one being a supervisor, and all three of us would probably get in trouble if overheard, especially him, but I made the same point.... the supervisor said Kimmel should basically keep his mouth shut, like duh, and I pointed out it's a comedian's responsibility to point certain things out. He dropped it after that and shifted to something else, thankfully... I had a line I wouldn't cross at work and we were nearing it.

“Regardless of ABC’s plans for the future of the program, Sinclair intends not to return ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ to our air until we are confident that appropriate steps have been taken to uphold the standards expected of a national broadcast platform,” the company said. The company also said that a tribute to Kirk will air on ABC stations in Kimmel’s time slot on Friday. **vomit inducing**

Both Nexstar and Sinclair have been lobbying the FCC over regulatory issues."

"Nexstar has been one of the major advocates among station groups for the FCC to eliminate a rule that limits companies from owning stations that collectively reach no more than 39% of U.S. households.
A desire for bigger-market affiliate stations is one of the drivers of Nexstar’s next big M&A deal, a $6.2 billion proposal to acquire Tegna, whose stable of stations includes a large number of big-market stations, especially NBC, which is especially valuable come NFL season.

The FCC is scheduled to vote on Sept. 30 on whether to launch a public comment period to modify or eliminate the ownership rules."

I know freedom.of speech isn't real but does this fall under that? Is it an employer/employee thing or does the FCC change that?

Kimmel being pulled immediately is my tipping point. If comedians can't point out the absurdity of what's going on we're no longer pretending to be free.
Which is funny because I think it was on January 20th and gave a talk about how we're never going to cancel anybody again for this kind of stuff cuz that's a liberal thing.

I mean he also declared antifa an official terrorist organization, which you know it's not an organization.

So is it really the ideology. Because now we're just opening up thought crime. Cool. Cool.

I don't even think it's about those comments.

There was a very specific bit he gave that's making the rounds. All they did was show the truth.

Reporters asked Trump about how he was feeling about the death of his close friend. So important him. And Trump just pivoted to talk about his ballroom and how it's been a goal for 150 years. There was no punch line. There was no intro or outro. All they did was show that.

Pretty sure that's when it became an issue.

This seems in some ways similar to the Paramount and Colbert situation. CBS sacrificed Colbert to get their sale approved.

Maybe one of the best things to do is not watch/boycott ABC. I already don't. The last time I watched Kimmel was on the Man Show or Win Ben Stein's Money.

We can also do our part and not buy anymore Marvel Legends and Star Wars figures because Disney bent the knee. Whoa whoa whoa lets not get crazy here.

To be fair that's just how Trump is. He could be taking about how he accidentally drove a nail through the tip of his penis and no one has ever felt such penile pain in the history of penises, then enthusiastically spend ten minutes on the sold gold dick cast the saudis gifted him.
