U.S. Politics

I know if tomorrow I killed a guy in cold blood simply for having a Black Sun or Totenkopf tattoo I would absolutely be going to jail for first degree murder.
You definitely would. I'm arguing that you -shouldn't-. Killing Nazis is a good thing. It always has been and it always will be, and no one will ever convince me that isn't true.

Some (shitty, useless) people like to argue that it's somehow a free speech thing, or that it's advocating violence against anyone you disagree with. That is, of course, absolutely fucking idiotic. It's advocating violence against people that, if allowed to do so, will execute anyone they don't like. As they historically did and proudly want to do again. In my mind, killing a Nazi is always self-defense.

Someone I thought I knew better said that "free speech is dead" after the shooting and I was like: nope, it's not dead because of this, but our very loose, vague friendship is, cos I thought you had thinking skills!

Meanwhile DC fires a trans writer for commenting on Kirk's death, y'know, someone who wanted her dead, and a MA teacher was fired for saying something about it online, so yeah, free speech is dead but not if your last word is a racist dogwhistle, only if you take solace in a person who hated you meeting an karmic end. And of course Dowd got fired for literally just saying the truth. Quoting Kirk can get you fired but Kirk died wealthy and will apparently have a marble bust or some shit in the White House lobby.

Yeah, I'm really sick of the people that have always been anti-free speech bringing up free speech whenever someone wants to just be allowed to say the vilest bullshit you've ever heard. Also, people have no fucking idea what free speech even means. Unless Charlie Kirk was assassinated by the actual government, those people can suck my entire dick.

I don't know if it's true but apparently the bullets were marked with a Turkish bullet manufacturer's stamp (TRN) and that was what got the Reddit rumor going it was trans iconography, and if so, somehow this timeline is even stupider than I knew it was yesterday.

And if this kid is the shooter... he kinda just looks like every red state kid ever and his law enforcement dad taught him to shoot. But of course the blood's already in the water.

Saw that the university overruled a student petition to NOT have Kirk on campus. If so, this is where someone should be held accountable and won't, I guess. Colleges high and low, liberal and conservative are failing their students in every way possible right now. (Complete aside, but my brother works for a college with a 50% foreign student body and they're having massive layoffs because nobody will come here now.)

Been a trip to say the least watching the reactions of my friends and acquaintances. I know I'm not alone in my point of view, but the sudden heel turn of people who, even the same morning it all happened, were pretty staunchly opposite of where they ended up later that day. I know people are allowed to change their minds, but the abruptness of it all has kinda left me reeling. Been a weird couple days.

I.....guess I'm glad they caught the guy? I mean, it's not like he was some deranged mass killer. Deranged, maybe, but at least he didn't hurt anyone else. But in all likelihood, the kid is as good as dead. If he isn't killed mysteriously while in holding, then I wouldn't be surprised to see him taken out by a crazy follower during transport. An example will be made of him somehow, like they're trying to do with Luigi. It'll be interesting to hear more details come out about him- what, if anything, is fabricated by certain channels to further promote a certain narrative. But I think it's telling that more and more of these shooters are getting younger and younger in age. Not that that's anything new- there have always been teenage/young adult mass shooters, but it definitely feels like an uptick of late. But of course we'll conveniently overlook what that means and how we're contributing to it.

What crazy times.

Watched a wargaming company have a total meltdown on Facebook yesterday about how he's tired of 'third world savages' and so on ruining his country and how much he hates everybody that isn't a straight white right wing guy and fuck you if you're lefty and yadda yadda yadda. Now it looks like the guy who triggered his little cryfest was....a straight white right wing guy.

*sips tea*

the shooter's casings had references to an Italian anti-fascist song. I know his family is MAGA but we all know how kids love to rebel against their upbringing.

I'm going to entertain the thought that the shooter hated Kirk for some of the reasons we hated Kirk.

If I see one more person say "a person died, have some compassion" when I've got these stats bookmarked:

No, Betty, I will not have compassion for the guy who worked tireless against gun control when we've had more mass shootings than we've had days in 2025. Where's your compassion, Carol, for everyone listed on this tracker?

Rebellion against parents is a possibility, given that his own father turned him in and said he hopes he gets the death penalty because 'Charlie Kirk was the finest person'. I've seen pictures of his supposedly dressing in Trump Halloween costumes, but even that could be interpreted either way as it appears the costume is him on Trump's shoulders. Depends on how you take that, I guess. I've also seen an image of a Trump campaign contribution under his name, but it's certainly a common enough name.

My problem here is that whether he is actually left or not, he will be in the narrative.

Meanwhile the Colorado school shooter is reported to have been 'radicalized' and on a 'mission' from 'an extremist network'.

Having no empathy for Charlie Kirk... doesn't that make one follow in his footsteps more than the ones acting like he's MLK?
