Literally every single thing they have been screaming about under Dem leadership that never actually happened is now happening under the guy they voted for and they're FINE WITH IT.

Because that's what authoritarian strong men do. It's what North Korea does. It's what Russia does. Show everyone 'we have nukes and we'll use them.' He wants to be them. That's been clear since his first presidency.

Literally every single thing they have been screaming about under Dem leadership that never actually happened is now happening under the guy they voted for and they're FINE WITH IT.

This is what they do. If the politician has an R next to their name, they can do whatever they want. If they are a democrat, it's the worst thing to ever happen. My parents had all sorts of theories of things they thought Obama was going to do (that he never did) and were incredibly outraged at the very idea of it. Most of those things Trump has actually done, and they see all of it as totally beneficial for the country. The lack of awareness and reasoning is staggering.

I was doom scrolling earlier and I saw some progressive guy interviewing conservatives at some rally.

The takeaway from all the conservatives was that if you did not vote for this government, it is not your government, and you are not afforded any rights or protections. When it was pointed out it doesn't work that way, they said, yeah it does, we didn't have any protections or rights under Obama or Biden.

I really wish they would have asked does that mean you don't have to pay taxes if it's not your government?

I always think that when I run into a conservative in Washington state. You like Donald Trump and want to bring his policies here? Easy for you to say from your blue enclave, relatively shielded from Republican policy. You'll be afforded the rights, wealth, and amenities that come from living in a blue state regardless.

Conservatism is a cultural signifier now. Republicans have no policy prescriptions anymore. Everything is in service of the rich and whatever pisses off liberals. Their only tool is a hammer.
