Tracking toy tariffs

Relative just called me. They're trying to send me some Christmas gifts, and they said the UPS store turned them away because UPS no longer deals with Canada due to tariffs.

This is actually the second time the store has been an issue for the person, so I'm assuming it's just because UPS stores are franchises this store chooses not to deal with anything, or it's just an idiot clerk.

But then I do recall I don't see UPS on any online storefronts anymore as an option.

Any of you have an issue internationally?

I don't know if it's relevant, but the only packages I've gotten from UPS recently from outside Canada were UPS to the border and one of those shitty delivery services within Canada. So.. maybe there's something to it?

I was so out of the loop, and I don't drink much anymore, but I went to the bar months ago and asked for some bourbon. The bartender had a weird look and she said it's American. Yeah, I'm aware that's why it's a bourbon. Oh, you don't serve it anymore. I hadn't realised we had gotten to those brass tacks.

America's loss, because I'm all about Canadian Rye now.
 
My favorite doll maker, MGA, has skipped releasing many doll lines in the USA this year because of tariffs. The newest line has been out in Europe for months. The only real option buyers in the USA have is buying them and paying $30+ shipping fee. MGA's president has been outspoken on the tariffs, calling them a "tax on consumers" and instead of raising the prices "high double-digits", they just aren't releasing them here.

My dad voted for Trump and dislikes that I, a grown man, buys dolls so I can't even throw it in his face. What a bunch of assholes!

Most people play with dolls by having them interact because most people are humans and re-enact their understanding of human interactions and situations. This is not applicable to a narcissist like Trump who would only want a doll of himself to stare it and admire how wonderful he is. Other people don't exist to him.
