This means nothing and they know it so that is why they were on board. It will never come to a vote and as the article says even if it did manage to get a vote and pass Trump could just veto it.
Also let's not forget who the 4 senators were: Paul, McConnell, Murkowski and Collins. Murkowski and Collins have shown time and time again that they will say one thing and fall right in line on actual votes. McConnell can burn in hell for being one of the main architects of all that is happening right now. I hope he falls and can't get up ending up with a fate as bad (if not worse) as Gene Hackman (No disrespect meant to Gene Hackman).

That's why every time I pay cash and they have to round change in my favor at Tim's, and scramble for those nickles, and you can tell it annoys them because everyone else has been tapping all day, I give the Leaf in the Tim's logo the finger and remind them: some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses.

I paid in cash at a local place the other day and the guy just rounded my change off - in the house's favor. It was all of 35 cents, but I was surprised by the audacity.

I never pay in cash because I despise change and would rather throw it on the floor than keep it (bearing in mind Canadian change is literal dollars). BUT, if I did pay in cash and someone did this - you said it - the absolute fucking audacity would have me in a rage. Definitely would not just let that go, myself.

His total was usually 18.95, and he'd count at the 19 in singles and take the nickel.
Canada got rid of the penny (only actually the physical version) a while ago. It was a bit of a kerfuffle for a short time but now it is just an accepted part of daily life. As others have said it can work in your favour sometimes if paying cash with the rounding. However it isn't technically "gone" because all non-cash payments still charge to the penny.so basically ending pennies is going to cost more in the long run

In the end it says more about the state of the economy, and inflation, than anything else. Part of the reasoning up here was also what actually can you get for a penny anymore? Nothing. So the production costing more than the actual value was just one factor they used to justify the change. I mean eventually all form of production materials will cost more than the actual penny so it would just be putting off the inevitable.

No, no, no. Despite the small amount, this is theft. What will he try next week, rounding/keeping 50 cents? Then move up to 75 cents? Would have to maintain it under a dollar, but guesstimate a theoretical 100 customers a day, he would be heavily supplementing the tip jar over time.
