Tracking toy tariffs

In one of the Transformers threads I mentioned passing on some new Transformers at Walmart and Target to wait for my BBTS preorder. That was before the BBTS email. I'm not a heavy TF buyer lately, but I'd like the two new combiners Hasbro is releasing. Not sure I want to go over the current $25 x 4 bots + an $80 bot to complete each combiner.
 
The alternative is that BBTS factors in a 125% tariff right now, tariff gets dropped or repealed before shipping and they still charge the price you agreed on with them. That's what a dishonest business would do.

They are just letting us know what to expect and that they don't really have any better window into the future (or mind of a crazy man) than we do.

I think it's the best possible way to handle the situation without ruining themselves. Let's not fault BBTS for being a larger business. They didn't start out that way and got there because they offer what we want and have excellent customer service.
 
Well. I just want to say how thankful I am for this thread and this board. It’s not exactly a fun conversation we are having here, but at least we are able to have it. I was just perusing a certain treaded-vehicle GI Joe site’s forum, and they have banned any tariff-talk that becomes “political” which, as one member noted (and a moderator affirmed!!) means basically you better not talk about it at all. That . . . sucks, as far as I am concerned. Forced ostriching doesn’t solve a damn thing, and only perpetuates the ignorance and the “things we shouldn’t talk about in ‘polite’ spaces” hogwash that got us into this MAGA mess. If “politics and religion and such” were not made taboo dinner-table conversation by our culture, we could have had the opportunity to confront cult-joining family and friends before they were so far gone. We have hung ourselves with a silk rope weaved from “decorum”. Fuck “decorum” and fuck “civility”. To paraphrase Peter S. Beagle: We have let our doom in by the front door, but it will not depart that way . . .
 
Agreed, @AceofKnaves . I was just looking at Reddit (my bad), and BBTS is rewarded for being the first major figure retailer to communicate with...ignorant people thinking BBTS is raising prices for shits and giggles and threatening to take their business elsewhere. Yeah...good luck with that. It's sad how many people don't care until it literally affects them personally. So yeah, thank you all for being informed and talking about this in a real way. And thank you, @TheSameIdiot for allowing, encouraging and participating in it.
 
“Don’t care until it affects them personally” is precisely the problem, and it’s also why I don’t have respect for folks who’ve been all-in on MAGA before the tariffs and are “just now” getting upset. Like brah, you’re still a Nazi, you’re just a Nazi worried about your checkbook and portfolio. Also, if it’s “economics” and not basic human decency that is the fulcrum of your political allegiances, your opinion is useless to me.

Also: when you vote for the face-eating leopard, you look foolish when you get mad that the leopard is also eating *your* face.

Let's be real clear about this: 90% of people, a number I just made up, that want to stop you from talking about politics are conservatives. It's just sweeping. Don't talk about it because it makes us look bad, and we don't want to have to defend the inane bullshit that we perpetrate in the voting booth.

These people will use their 'political beliefs' to destroy the planet, destroy your life, destroy your neighbours lives, and then complain that 'politics ruins everything.' No, my dude. YOUR politics ruins everything and you just don't want to be held responsible for that.

I can't speak for TSI, and this place belongs to him 100%. But I can say that as long as I'm here, as long as I'm invited to be involved at the level that I am, I will never allow this place to sweep for Nazis and silence conversation because it might hurt the feelings of people with fuck-awful 'political' takes. I'll head out the door if that were to ever start to happen (and I don't imagine it ever will, if I know TSI as well as I think).
 
I haven't ordered anything from BBTS in quite awhile. But I do appreciate that they are willing to communicate with their customers so openly on a very crummy situation. I give them kudos for letting everyone know what they are going to do and how it will affect anyone who is doing business with them. And they are still giving customers the option to cancel after they let them know how the tariffs will impact their preorders. Seems about as fair as they can possibly make a bad situation for everyone who loves collecting toys. I doubt Hasbro Pulse will be as forthcoming.
