Tracking toy tariffs

I believe that the tariffs are what led to the layoffs at S7. Aside from having to foot the bill on the 2003 TMNT wave, which might have erased all profits from what may have been a major seller for them, they also face complete uncertainty for the future. This isn't unique for them, but how do you move forward to price out future orders when theres absolutely no stable prediction on what tariffs will be like when product hits US shores? They could be 30%, they could be 200%. You can't in good faith move forward and make something according to their model with that kind of bizarre uncertainty.

From Brian's talks with Veebs, it sounds like S7 plans out waves pretty far in advance, so I imagine Kyle & Co have already designed a lot of unseen product. But I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped out of the game for a while. Their Deluxe waves have apparently sold well, and they could get a lot of milage releasing figs they've already developed and selling them to new consumers at Target and other retailers.

As for them having a good or bad year, who knows, it could be spin. But they've also gotten a lot more prudent. It could be a good year because they've culled a lot of stuff that hasn't done the numbers they want. Essentially, there are less holes in the ship, even if the winds are the same.

Two things can be true at once. I don't buy S7, they make some neat looking Transformers ReActions at the most absurd prices. No interest in their other offerings even if I do enjoy seeing reveals. So I can see them using this as a scapegoat to an extent. Good time to lean down without looking like villains. I get that, but it's also wishful thinking to just fault S7 that way. We're scared/sad/enraged over the current situation and it already has begun destroying our hobby as much as we don't want to watch it happen - at the hands of a vile bully.

There is no deal, if toys were exempt from tariffs years ago then even the 30% pause rate is insane. And of course this changes more than our underwear. It's totally asinine, cruel, unscrupulous, selfish and just plain dumb to do this. How the fuck can any company plan anything when tariffs are 145% one minute then 30% the next but only until August. Companies were seriously considering radically changing their supply chain over this, but then one morning it's "I guess Christmas is back on" What about tomorrow? Next year? This affects EVERYONE. I seriously have to wonder about a coup where companies just ignore it because it's all such bullshit.

It's all totally unnecessary. Please explain to me how tariffs are good. They never were, they never were going to paid by anyone other than us and manufacturing is not coming back here. Not at the scale the MAGA crowd tells us. But don't try reasoning with them, you'll just be labeled as having Derangement Syndrome....until they're unemployed and with nothing on shelves to buy.

Brian Flynn, yet again a slimy liar. He can talk all he wants about his company being successful, but when he lays off THAT much of his company, there's simply no way to believe him. Not that we really could before, though. If he is bringing on new talent, I hope they manage a full overhaul of the Ultimates lines in every aspect. It's really the only way to gain the good will of toy collectors after everything Super7 has been for years. I don't think him talking to Dave is a sign of Dave being brought on though. They're both big names in the toy industry, they're bound to talk eventually.

Also, what's Valaverse Street Force? I can't seem to find anything on it.

It hasn’t premiered yet. It’s getting shown off at DFW. Basically $20-$30 line of goons and street tuffs

Vala is coming out with Street Force this fall which will basically kill any hope street humans had of a third chance. A spite toyline is fun.
Wait... seriously?

If so that's some petty shit. He already roasted Shartimus to his face on that one podcast when it was painfully obvious the kickstarter was DOA. Now he's going to pick up the same idea and do it himself? Shit he even roasted Shartimus specifically for his line having a boring ass name and he's calling the Valaverse version "Street Force"?

Like, I don't hate Bobby's figures, but jeeez that dude just seems like suuuuuuuch a dickhead.

Nah, it was because Shartimus started talking shit. It’s a spite toyline.

Yeah I couldn't pick a side in a Vala vs Shartimus petty feud...

Well this way the toys will probably come out lol

Street humans reeked of not actually coming out because of mismanagement and not understanding how to make toys.

Don't get me wrong, it's not like Shartimus's stuff looked great. I agree with most of Bobby's critiques. But it's very much that thing of even when he's right he's just always an jerk about it. When they were on the podcast together it was like, final days of the kick and the kick was very clearly not only already dead, but Bobby was grilling him about stuff he, having run his own kickstarters, would know could not be changed at that point. It was just mean spirited. The thing would have failed either way, but it looked like he was going out of his way to embarrass the guy.

Committing to some feud seems, well par for the course. They both strike me as just really thin skinned dudes.
