Tracking toy tariffs

Americans buy toilet paper made in America for the most part. We've got plenty of trees, so whatever will be in short supply in coming months (if anything) will be something else.

I dunno what the most popular consumable item made in China is, but it's definitely not toilet paper. Anything durable made of plastic or cloth is mostly made in China. I'm not sure any popular consumables at all are made in China, but that's an educated guess.

Despite this... I won't be surprised when panic strikes and people hoard the TP.

Which is the same behavioral pattern that led people to vote for the guy who caused this in the first place.

Which for anyone panicked is the way humanity has always been throughout the course of recorded history. History doesn't precisely repeat itself, but it does rhyme. And we've seen this latest rhyme before. This isn't unique just within the history of America itself where this style of governance has happened MANY times, we've just never seen it within an era where we could all commiserate about it together in the shared space social media present to us.

It's worth noting that social media is an algorithmic feed. You see what they want you to see. That's notable because Zuck, Musk, and the rest of the tech bros were sitting right behind Trump during his inauguration. We know who they are and what they want. The top-performing Facebook accounts are almost always Ben Shapiro and the like. Fascism can be overcome, but the left is at a massive disadvantage because the right controls the media and social media.

I'm somewhat optimistic because I don't think this has ever happened in a country as big as the U.S., and they decided to throw their weight behind Dictator Trump when the country was, at best, split down the middle. They don't have a popular mandate, and as soon as things go bad, I have to hope people will notice.
 
I would love to own an "R2D2" toilet, but I know the expense of installing one would suck. No one in the US builds bathrooms with the idea of ever needing to supply power to the toilet. Maybe one day though. A man can dream.

But, yeah, tariffs suck and whatnot.
