I imagine it is hard to say for you guys right now. However if the regime is getting closer to what is the "standard" for a lot of other western countries (standard being somewhat subjective of course) then you could be okay and not get hit with anything, or you could get hit with maybe just the taxes on the declared value. Or still even more depending on how the item is shipped. In Canada you are less likely to get hit with any taxes/duties if the item(s) come through Canada Post. If it is FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. you are almost guaranteed to get hit.

But it is all so new and up in the air who knows what you guys will face.
 
I realized the de minimis issue is probably going to hurt the Canadian etailers who get a lot of business from the US. Places like DJC Collectibles and Toy Snowman probably get a good chunk of business from the US. Between the exchange rate and the de minimis exemption being so high they probably had a sizeable customer base from the US.

Now that that is gone it won't be as beneficial for US customers to buy from them.
 
I have some Hiya figures on pre-order through CoolToysClub
I'm afraid if they go up in price I definitely will have to cancel. They are their 1/18th scale G.I. Joe figures that are not sold in the U.S. American etailers already had to charge higher prices because of that.

Selfishly, I kinda want em to stay out of our yard. We have less options and less stock overall.

I understand, but the reality is that the Canadian etailers are at risk of losing a chunk of business and that is not good for us because they either could go belly up or have to find ways to offset the loss of business. Unfortunately in a lot of cases small businesses have limited options to offset a loss of business, and that generally leads to smaller selections of product, or increased prices.
 
Of course I have a Psylocke set on preorder at CMD, which I don't even need now. CMD and the stores in Japan were suggesting Canada and Japan Post when shipping to avoid fees, but I don't know if that is still the case. I haven't seen any noticeable fees added to my preorders shipped from China and Japan so far.

Toy Snowman has done some YouTube videos of himself going through customer returns and did mention people from the US returning their Target exclusives, probably because they found it in-store. He does have a customer ban list and I think he should use it on them, before they ruin it for everyone else. I believe in honoring the deal, even if I find it before my preorder ships.

...and yes, I find watching a toy store owner open customer returns strangely entertaining.

Yeah, I believe most of the stores up here have a really tight ban list. I watched a few of his video, there's some interesting unboxings.

Good thing they canceled that health care, the gold ballroom sounds expensive.
 
I preordered a couple of revoltech figures from BBTS and neither of the listings have tariff warnings. Granted, the figures themselves are almost $100, but if I had tariff stuff on top I may not have ordered them. I was doing a wait and see with them, hoping the final price wasn't super expensive. But if they stay where they are I will keep the preorders, especially since one is presold out. But if the tariff charges are gonna be expensive, I can't afford it. I'm doing good getting them at the price they are. Only reason I ordered them is because I really like the characters and games they came from. So I understand people canceling. It does suck, its unfortunate, but people do need to be a little more lenient with stuff like preorders, at the present moment, considering today it could be fine and tomorrow we could be paying double. But I understand the other side too. This whole situation is just fucked.

CanadaPost is chill as fuck. Doesn't give a fuck what you're getting and isn't interested in doing a single penstroke of extra work. If no one asks, they don't tell.

UPS and FedEX are the fucking hall monitors. Every package they deliver they feel the need to run up to border services like a child with a macaroni picture they made at school, screaming at the top of their lungs exactly what they're bringing over the border and how much it's worth. They don't wait for anyone to ask and actively do not care if border services even CARES. They will essentially -force- border services to collect import duties, and then charge you a brokerage fee for their 'service' in facilitating the payment of those fees (which is WHY they insist on making sure all packages get declared and taxed). They're a fucking criminal extortion racket and should be put out of business, to be honest.

Yep.

I got my Ultimates Silverhawks wave one from BBTS yesterday. Got hit for another $24Cdn because BBTS is using FedEx due to issues with shipping to Canada through the postal service. I guess they are worried about the strike/possibly strike, whatever. So what probably would have been both cheaper to ship and avoid duties with the postal service gets dinged thanks to tattle-tale FedEx.

Glad I got it so cheap from BBTS because I won't be doing that again unless it is something super cheap I am truly wanting to put in the collection.

Oh and I have to say DAMN!!! Is armoured Monstar a beast!!!! I have Mumm-Ra The Ever Living from Ultimates and he is a bit smaller than Monstar.
 
I got a processing soon email for the S.H.Figuarts Vegeta last night and there's no mention of a tariff charge, unlike my Storm Arena Ken which is going up a buck. Some companies are eating the tariffs themselves (I think Hasbro is one such company) so that may be why it seems inconsistent. I will say, if my experience with Ken is any indication of how these are impacting prices then I much prefer the route BBTS has taken as opposed to EE which raised the price on all of my preorders by a not insignificant amount.
