Toys, Tunes and Beer

Holy crap. I never gave my ranks for the last entry. My bad.

Now onto business. It’s Friday night and that means binge drin…er Toys, Tunes and Beer! I picked up this @gijoe Snake Eyes on a whim. I had the ARAH version when I was a kid, so there is some nostalgia there. His accessories and decent, though this is about the 22nd time we’ve seen these swords and scabbed combo. The MP5 is really nice and I’d like to see it with other figures. The figure is decent, but mine is all loosey goosey. Finding the center of balance is harder than it should be, but he poses well. Sculpt is great, though the vest hinders pall the torso articulation. I’m almost out of @fidensbrewing so you can all relax. This one is Jasper with Nelson…AND passion fruit. That makes it different. The passion fruit really comes through and kicks it up another notch. I still love that color. Beer good. I do see the irony of playing this album. Shut up. @minorthreat came in to my life completely by accident, and then dominated it. All through high school I claimed to be straight edge, and would even put X’s on my hands some days. It was interesting in a class whose motto was “4:20!!” I got over it though. From time to time I find my self humming Steppin’ Stone for no reason. I would put this on repeat on my car on my Discman, and pic up my best friend @chrisdrew79 and go do hoodlum stuff. Good times.

I didn't set out to, but same. My middle one is 12 today but my BIL came with us and the cousins so.... Pitchers. And he is really on it with keeping my glass full, but I drink faster than everyone else. Dangerous.
 
I hope your Monday was short. Here’s some Toys, Tunes and Beer for you. I picked up Elita-1 today, mostly knowing she would end up in my son’s collection, which is fine. As a robot she’s not bad. Kinda fragile in a few spots (not breakable, just the transformation point fails). I can’t get the jetpack on her, so that’ll go to another character I guess. I like her rifle over the one that came with B-127. The swivel grip helps. Her transformation is alright, but still finicky. I’m starting to think maybe it’s me. Over the weekend I went to Vermont and picked up some brews. Tonight is River Roost Brewery Double Mas Verde DIPA. It has the typical Vermont taste, which I do enjoy. A little piney, with some limey citrus at the end. Vermont used to be my go to place for beer, then the pandemic hit and I had to switch it up. The Tossers are a band that kind of came out of nowhere for me. They opened for Dropkick Murphysone year, and I devoured their discography. I saw them live again a few years later, but haven’t been able to since. They have a ton of great songs, but this album has the bulk of my favorites, including Drinking in the Day and The Valley of the Shadow of Death. Officially listed as Celtic Punk, they usually lean towards Irish folk punk. They are easily a top ten band for me that I would love to see love to see live again.

The backpack only clips on the reverse side of the part for me. If you look at it, it's like the side facing out doesn't even have room in the slot.

I thought I was crazy. I had a hard time getting it to fit on the other three as well, but it did a little better at least.
 
No I didn’t abandon this. This weekend was…busy. But here we are, Toys, Tunes and Beer. I had always planned on picking up this @gijoe Cobra Commander if I saw him in stores. Obviously I saw him in a store because he’s here now. I had the ARAH version when I was a kid, and always felt it was a great look. CC actually going in to battle while armored up was a simple, but amazing concept to 8 year old me. This version is no exception. A great sculpt, with all the expected articulation. The addition of the Serpentor Iguana is a nice nod to the silly DIC years of the show. Having two different heads is a great addition too. I really need to update my Joe shelves. @burlingtonbeer was my place in Vermont. I spent more time there than I did at Toys R Us (RIP). Uncanny Valley was one of the big three I always went for. This is such a great IPA. Mosaic and Citra hops make such a killer combo. Juicy, with some citrus, mango and a little piney element at the end. I don’t get to BBCO as much as I used to, and I miss it, along with the company I would meet with there. @the_clash is a band we need more than ever today. There are four of my favorite Clash songs on here. The title track, Rudie Can’t Fail, Clampdown and Guns of Brixton. Hearing that opening guitar riff always gets me hyped. This copy is an original 1980 pressing that was one of the first albums I bought…where though, I don’t remember.

It’s baseball playoff season…so I’m kinda distracted. Here we are though. Toys, Tunes and Beer. I found this Duke while looking for something else (sorry @Ru1977 ). I bought him just to have him as I still liked the original Classified release. This is a nice update though. Lots of gear, including all the ARAH style stuff. Great range of motion, nice paint apps, a nice figure over all…even if it is the big Boy Scout. Maine Beer Co is one brewery I pick up when I see it no matter what. Lunch is one of my favorites from them (yes I’ve had Dinner too) and was lucky to find it today. This is more like a traditional IPA, where it’s a bit piney, but still has some citrus going on. I fucking love Blood for Blood. When I was younger their lyrics really hit home for me. This album specifically got me through a difficult time in my life. I won’t say it “saved” me, but it certainly kept me a bit more…grounded. Rob’s lyrics have always hit me so hard. The pain and anger he had was so relatable. I was lucky to see them once live (with my best friend Chris) and it was one of the most unforgettable shows of that era for me. I still remember the shirt I wore…because I made it myself. I miss those days of hardcore shows, though I’m sure my body doesn’t.

I can remember when Lunch was hard to get anywhere but the Maine brewery itself. A bunch of guys would empty out of the office back then to head to the local packy if they were getting it in. Usually limited to two bottles. Now, like a lot of beers that used to get this sort of attention, I can walk into most beer stores and buy it whenever I want. Can’t say the same for Dinner as that’s still pretty limited.
 
It’s like that for a lot of the “big” beers. Hell, you can walk in to Treehouse and pick up dozens of different selection from them these days. Same with Fidens. I want to say I miss those days….but I really don’t.
 
Yeah, same. There was some fun to it, but I also would think to myself as I waited in a long line that I couldn’t believe what I was doing for beer. Never mind the multiple trips to Vermont I took to fill my trunk with delicious brews.
