Toy Room Display and Organization Ideas

I started labeling the bag when the accessories didn't include an alt head or Mjolnir or something obvious. One smoke plume and one gun burst is the same as any of the rest to me after these things start to pile up.
I use to label all of my bags, but now I just slice off a piece of the packaging that has the name of the company and figure. On rare occasions nowadays, they'll have a removable cardboard insert/name tag that works as well. This makes it easier to find what you are looking for when shuffling through a sea of bags.

Not ready to show a ton of pics because as you can see there's stuff all over my floor at the moment, but I'll throw this question up here:

I have three of these long book cases that I got from my school. I want to light them up. If I go with the LED rope lights I assume I will have to drill through those vertical walls to feed them through, then I'll loose the adjustability of the horizontal shelves which I like. Any other lighting ideas for those six shelves?

I drilled all of mine through the sides and ran my lights. The other options would be puck lights that you can run through the backs of the bookcases (they usually don't run in a continuous circuit) or battery powered lights which are a huge pain in the ass of course.

You could run the lights around the outside edge of each case only (with nothing attached to the movable shelf). So basically along the bottom shelf, up the side, along the underside of the top shelf, down the other side. I did this in some Detolfs using aluminum v-channel with a diffuser cover to get the lights at the correct inward angle. You'd likely have to take a notch out of the corners on either side of the shelf for the channel to fit. The wiring could come up from the bottom of the shelf right where the lights start to limit their exposure or you could drill through the back and run the wires forward.

I got an oversized air purifier for my room that gets so dusty. Went through and washed every Marvel Legend and it's been a few weeks and I'm not seeing any new dust accumulating.

To be fair the purifier is rated for a room about three times the size of mine but I figured overkill couldn't hurt in this case.

I've heard the canned air works wonders, I just always forget about it. I've tried air purifiers before, but they never seem to work (though, to be fair, I usually go for cheaper models so I can have more money for toys 😅 ) I've mostly just been doing the dusting wand thing, some Lysol wipes, and a makeup brush for some of the more fragile things. Not that you'd be able to tell from my shelves, but I'm actually kind of frugal with spending, but if anything feels worthy of a splurge, it's something to make dusting easier.

Dust-sealing my shelves has been the *best* return on investment for a home-improvement I've ever made. All my stuff is in Billy bookshelves, but I got the ones with the glass doors on them (and you can buy the doors separate if you've already got Billys). A little bit of cheap adhesive rubber weather stripping and dust is now a problem I deal with about once every 3-4 months. And even then, largely around the edges of the door. A minute with a microfiber and we're good to go for another quarter. Highly recommend that route.

I always keep a few figures on my desk, usually whatever's new and at least one or two that are in rotation as I mess with old stuff. Those I try to hit once every few weeks with a microfiber to keep them good.

Okay, so I have the glass door Billys as well and I am interested in how you did this and how it looks. I thought about doing something with the doors myself, but I'm afraid it's going to look ass AND ruin the doors if I decide to take it off -because- it looks like ass.

So some of this will depend on what color Billy you have. I've got the black ones and I bought this stuff: amazon.com/dp/B07477J8KL?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1

I also have the single wide so all I needed to do was put a strip on the top and bottom edge of the shelf where there's a gap between the doors and the interior. The sides have a liiiiiiittle bit of clearance where dust can get in, but in my experience that's largely been negligible once the top and bottom are sealed. For the black Billy this blends in when the door is open and is totally hidden as long as the doors are closed. I can get a few photos later and show you what it looks like.

The adhesive isn't super aggressive so if you needed to peel it off you probably could and with a little goo-gone you'd likely not notice.

Now, if you've got a double-wide Billy and there's a center gap to cover you might have to do a little experimenting, but I'd probably start with the same sort of solution and work from there. There's also weather stripping that has adhesive backs that's more like a broom head and you can get those in different sizes as well. I didn't like that as much for my options, but it might work better color-wise if you have a lighter color Billy in your space.

@JakeEkiss Yeah, if you happen to get any pictures at some point, definitely share if you're cool with it. I'm curious how it all turned out.
I have one single, and two doubles. When you originally posted, I was envisioning the stripping on the inside edge of the double doors, so they seal off that middle gap, and I was like 'how did you do that and have it not look like complete shit?' Haha.

Edit: TO BE FAIR... I should point out that the Billy shelves with doors have changed my life even without any upgrades. My place is super dusty and I went from old open bookshelves and having to dust basically every two or three days, to dusting like once a month or less.

I think you could make it work with the double doors too, though you will probably need to be a bit more particular with the placement and type of weather stripping. I do think it'd still work though. And I'll be getting a double-wide Billy soon myself for more of my collection, so when I solve that problem I'll let you know how I did it.

But yeah, just the door alone is a HUGE improvement. Also keeps my cat from everything which is an additional bonus. But yeah, I'll throw some photos your way when I can (maybe on discord since we're in the D&D thing together).
