ToTS is AMAZING. Good people's over there doing awesome stuff.
Yeah, I agree. The sculpts are really good, but for the price they just don't do much for me. I picked up the Michael Myers to have the classic "Shape" in my collection (and Justin is just REALLY good at getting that classic mask right), but that was the only one I've purchased so far. I've been tempted by Farmer Vincent from Motel Hell, and the Killer Clowns From Outer Space, but the price always prevents me from biting.I got their Goosebumps figures and quite like them. Feels like a lot of thought and care went into them, with the pose, the stand, all that. I've seen a couple of the Scream Greats in stores, and I think they look good, but yeah, the lack of articulation leaves something to be desired. I don't know if I'd even mind it as much if they were pre-posed- just something to add a little dynamic to them, but the vanilla pose leaves a lot to be desired. Especially at $40-$50, depending where you get them, I'd just hope for a little more. There's a few that I'd pick up on sale, I just never see them go on sale.
I've been tempted by the Killer Klowns too; an FYE a little far from me, but that I like to visit often, had the first wave on sale for $25 each and I didn't get them, which I'm kinda kicking myself over now. I'd pay that much for them, especially since FYE's prices have been absurd as of late.Yeah, I agree. The sculpts are really good, but for the price they just don't do much for me. I sorta know the guys at TOTS...hung out with them years ago and have maintained some contact with them on social media. Their figure lines are very much intended as throwbacks to 90s/early 2000s figure lines. When they first revealed their Michael Myers, I told Justin that I loved the look of it, but wished it had more articulation, but he was steadfast in his stance that he wanted it to be in the vein of the NECA Cult Classics. I mean, I get it...the dude is a sculptor and has a passion for that, but it doesn't change the fact I prefer more articulation in my "action" figures. I love the look of their stuff, but I'd definitely be buying more of them if they could pose at all.
I'm sorry to say, @Niko (protozoalord) , that you will be disappointed with their Crow as what you've seen is what is planned for the final figure. They have no plans to add any more articulation whatsoever, sadly.
I completely agree. I get where they are coming from, but I'd MUCH prefer they put some articulation in their figures!I can respect that passion, and it makes total sense with their horror and film offerings. The modern figures for horror have largely been NECA, and I don't see them as really leading a charge in articulation or engineering, anyways.
That being said, I think it just doesn't work for a figure that's an indie comic figure that's released during a huge renaissance of indie comics characters getting figures-- Frazetta Girls, LC, Boss Fight, Mezco, etc, Eric's just an odd one out in design philosophy.
I'll still get it, ogle it, put it on a shelf and try to fudge it in with the rest of my collection, etc. But I can't see myself posing or playing with it much, unlike the rest of that display. Comic Eric Draven needs torso articulation to hit some Iggy Pop ass poses, otherwise he may as well be a statue.
So as I snapped the leg off an expensive and irreplaceable figure tonight I think my biggest disappointments will always be expensive and irreplaceable figures. We complain ENDLESSLY about big retailers and deservedly so, but man... "Fuck, I just broke my Spider-Man, let me go on Amazon and buy a new one for 22 bucks" is so much less stressful than "fuck, I just broke an 80 dollar figure that is now going for $250 on eBay, guess that collection is dead" is way worse. I think I'm just over scarcity collecting. I don't want to chase figures anymore and I REALLY don't want them to be unfixable or irreplaceable, because in the end I just want to enjoy the figures I buy and not worry about them.
