Toy Fair International - February 14-17 2026

Even if Thing was there for size comparison it's still a bit weird in that smart Hulk is a reuse of a Hulk buck we already have many times over. Fans know how big this guy is.

Fans do, absolutely. But bear in mind that Toy Fair isn't just for fans and the fan press, it's also for retailers and retail buyers for the big box stores. Some of them may not know.

Very light Toy Fair this year, but I suppose that's no surprise when two of the biggest licenses are in the process of switching hands and another is laser focused on a movie this summer.

Yeah, it was fine, but nothing was really amazing.

And I’m not feeling super optimistic about Mattel getting DC and TMMT.

C'mon, Mattel has to be better than Playmates and McFarlane, right?!? Those are probably my 2 least favorite action figure companies in the game. From a TMNT perspecitve the concern is more whether companies like NECA and Super7 can continue making their stuff or not. I won't miss McF on the DC side at all, and that's coming from someone who bought at least one version of every single distinct character that they've made (including several multiples) and every single vehicle. I still like most of my old Mattel DCUC figures better than I do what I've bought from McF.

I agree though that ToyFair was a little ho-hum, but honestly isn't it always? From the Legends side the only reveal that I'm really excited for from this week was Muse. Some of the updates are nice like Constrictor, Daredevil, Falcon and Thor -- but it's really hard for me to get excited about buying updates to figures that I already own. That just makes me feel like I paid for the exact same thing multiple times over.

I am specifically worried about NECA and Super7 losing the TMNT license. I am bummed there won’t be any more TMNT vintage figures from Playmates, though! I thought they’d eventually get around to releasing a vintage Android Krang. (At least the got around to the Technodrome and Sewer Lair, though.)

As for Mattel and DC, I certainly won’t miss McFarlane having the license. The line has been impossible to collect with all the platinums and drops that sell out in five minutes for basically anything. Not super optimistic about what Mattel does, though. I still have my DCUC collection for nostalgia’s sake, but they really fumbled a lot with the license and it hasn’t been that long since they had it (2019).
