Any MLB fans here? It was the only sport I got into as a kid (despite getting into NFL, NHL, and NBA later in life) and thanks to TBS my team became the Braves, who have the worst record in baseball in this new season. 0-6 record let's goooo.

I don't think we had a baseball thread before like we did with some of the other sports so here's to breaking news ground.

I absolutely live, breathe and die baseball. I'm also a purist so I have very strong opinions about today's game.
Lifelong Mets fan. Also a Dodgers fan, and same as you, because of TBS I feel in love with the Braves throughout the 90's.

LFGM!

Oh man. A Mets fan?? Get out of my thread.

Joking aside you guys are long overdue for a World Series win and I hope you get it at some point. See, even when wishing Mets fans well I can still throw a subtle barb in there.

I have no idea what is going on with the Braves but it kind of seems everything is going wrong right now.

How is AJ Minter pitching for you so far? We will mostly miss him but he could be frustrating at times but was one of our longest serving Braves before the Mets got him.

I'd see myself out of this thread but could you endure another loss? It's always great, to me, when rival sports fans can trade barbs in good fun.

Yeah, The Braves. It's been a rough start. The Profar suspension is a real kick in the balls to boot. Who's the Braves GM? Anthopoulos? It's a shame that contract can't be voided?

I think Minter has only appeared twice this season and it he hasn't looked great. Something is off.

This happened last night and pretty much sums up the start to the Mets season:

Minty will figure it out. Like many pitchers he can be a bit neurotic but when he is on his game he is deadly.

Yes Alex Anthopolous is the GM and I think most of his success is due to luck. He should never have let Freddie Freeman, Max Fried, or Dansby Swanson walk.

The Profar situation is ridiculous. It is so obvious that he used PEDs to have a season last year that would get him this contract. It should 100% be able to be voided. He is out for half the season and ineligible for the post-season (not that THAT is looking to be a concern unless our performance drastically improved).

Well well the Braves finally won a game, 8 games into the season. The Padres and Dodgers finally lost a game. Maybe balance is starting to be restored to the baseball universe.

Uh, hello? The Mariners have a legitimate shot at winning the World Series and no one is talking about it.

I really hope they do. I saw them play in Atlanta a few weeks ago when they destroyed us. Love Cal "Big Dumper" Raleigh and would love to see him get a ring.

If the Phillies, Cubs, or Dodgers win I will be violently ill.

I know KVHulk is banned but in case he pops in here to read anything still, I'd like to extend my heartiest and most robust LOLMETS.

As a lifelong Mariners fan, that game was this:

In case anyone cares, the Mariners have a mascot race that consists of 4 Salmon - The Salmon Run. https://www.mlb.com/mariners/fans/salmon-run

The Salmon are King, Sockeye, Silver and Humpy.

Humpy had never won.

But tonight before the 15th inning, the Salmon Run occurred for a second time in the game, and miraculously Humpy had his first victory!

I believe it was this inspiration that led the Mariners to victory tonight.

are you local?
Well, I am not not even close to local Seattle - long story but I started following the Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders (NASL version) and Sonics (RIP) from New Jersey in the late 70's as a kid, and have stuck with them ever since.

Back in the 70's, Sears was a major vendor for licensed NFL gear, and every year their catalogs would include dozens of pages of NFL clothing available for every team. In my hometown was a Sears catalog outlet store that had everything they didn't sell or was returned, and around the summer of 1978 it was flooded with Seahawks and Buccaneers clothing and items - most likely they had sold a huge amount of items for the 1976 expansion teams in the first two years of the franchises but they must have over produced going into season 3. Since that was where we went to get my clothes for each school year, that summer instead of getting generic stuff that year, I asked to get the Seahawks stuff as I liked the logo and the colors. And you can't wear a team's clothes in Middle School and not actually support the team. So that was the start - Sears had a good supply of Seahawks stuff for the next few years, and I ended up with everything from Starter Jackets to shirts and sweatshirts and belt buckles that my parents never would have sprung for a full price. I then picked up the Mariners as I was into baseball cards but started to get full Mariners team sets and the old media guides. Was part of the very first Mariners mailing list/discussion group that started in the early 90's out of rec.sports.baseball - which lasted until the mid 2000's before forums and boards started to take over - I was the admin for a couple of years for that.

I sort of split allegiance with the Philly teams which I followed with my Dad, but Seattle gets top support in head to head. Usually fly out every other year for a series and a Sounders or Seahawks game, and try to see the M's on the road every year. This year went out for the Sounders in the Club World cup and also saw the M's vs Cleveland and Boston during that week.
That game was agony.

Go Ms, obviously.
Yeah, that was crazy. I was laughing at the absurdity of it by inning 12. Having survived the 1995 ALDS I figure I can survive anything. I know it is a new experience for the fans that weren't around for the 95 to 01 teams...

Hope we get over the hump this year and get to the WS. Might try to get to Seattle for a game or two if that happens and it isn't too crazy.

GOMS!
