The Chatty Pointless Thread

Having such a lucky day.

Last night, I was about to do my freelance work (tight deadlines rn), then my PC monitor just entirely died on me. Ma's new boyfriend just happened to have two spare monitors that are direct upgrades to mine, always wanted a dual monitor setup. Just got them, they're beautiful.

It's also my birthday today so I made a trip to my local toy store, I got a prepaid card from my dad so I gotta spend it. Find a few sofubis and having a hard time choosing between two, made a comment about it being my birthday and all that and the store owner just gives it to me for free. Apparently they do $15 off for birthdays. Who knew!

In case anyone's curious, 2nd Chance Toys in Marietta, GA. I've been there only a few times, but have had a great time every time.
I try to get out to Second Chance a couple times a year. Great store.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Niko! And yes, a very Happy Hannukah to those who celebrate! Gave my boyfriend his Hanukkah present tonight; I'm holding the rest hostage until Christmas with the fam, as the wicked Gentile I am.

Also, the haul for the curious (idk if we have a thread for this). This counts for the full holidays, but I also got everything I asked for and then some surprises of my favorite things ever, so I'm perfectly happy.

Having Vampirella makes me want to collect fodder and start on heads for customs of Pendragon, Dracula, and the Helsings though... goodness gracious

My sister bought this cute blind box BJD for me for xmas:

She knew I like toys with plastic chip eyes, so she took a chance. I'm sure we all have this in some degree, that the people close to us don't know what to buy for us, toy-wise, because we're the experts and we generally buy whatever we want. Usually I'm not into the randomness of blind boxes, but it being a random draw is negated by it being a gift (aka I'll always have good feelings no matter which pull). It feels nice when someone listens to you and gifts you something you aren't expecting.

Merry Christmas!

Random thought of the morning: I used to think I'd never want to retire, I'm a writer, I want to die at my desk blah blah blah. But I find as I'm nearing 50 I long to retire early not because I'm tired of working, I've still got limitless energy for that, but because I didn't factor in that you also need limitless PATIENCE more than energy to deal with the other people work forces you to interact with.

I've really only got about a year of patience in me with any time I work with before I've encountered all the human flaws in their system and start burning out. If the healthcare situation in the US wasn't going to get so much worse I'd be considering going back to freelancing full time again.
