The Chatty Pointless Thread

Or just cheaper beer.

My wife listens to country sometimes in her car. I have two Sirius XM channels programmed on her radio that I hit quick when that comes on.

I think I'm no longer drinking cheaper beer. I am considering only ever drinking Guinness. Most gatherings I go to don't have Guinness unless I bring it, so this is something of an effort to curb my overdoing it. And Guinness just makes me so happy. Friday I had a pint and it was wonderful, then my BIL got us a pitcher of blonde and yeah it was good but ... I want more Guinness!

But watch this last only until this weekend where I drink whatever.

I love Phil LaMarr, all the way back to his MadTV days; and think he's a wonderful voice actor if only for the perfection that is Samurai Jack.

But he's *not* the current-day Mel Blanc.

Discuss.

I'm not a huge stock market guy. Yesterday I bought some shares of Kenvue, just to see what might happen in the near future. I'm hoping there is some sort of lawsuit after the whole Tylenol thing, and their stocks shoot up. I have a couple of Reddit stocks that have done wonders for me. I paid maybe $50 for them, and they've grown by 300+%.

I was imagining if I were to wear a t-shirt saying "Charlie Kirk is dead." Black shirt, white type, period, no pictures or emojis or anything really assigning emotion; statement of fact. But I would expect people to flip out about it, because I would think people would automatically assign the emotion they see as bad. "Ah, man, this piece of shit is celebrating his death!" Or "Ah, man, this piece of shit is lamenting his death!"

I've made two proper AMVs before (There's a bunch of varying terms... AMV, fancam, etc, depends on context) and have a billion in the back of mind to make some day. Here's the first and best one so far:

Awesome job! I always watched the hell out of videos like this back in the day to get my creative juices flowing. They got me pumped.

Here's my baby if anyone feels so inclined. It's rough- still overcoming my geriatric side and learning how to edit, and of course there's things I didn't notice until I was done- but I'm proud of it for my first time. The lore is all about cycles, so that helped give a pretty good template on what to aim for.

Just interviewed some folks who did a research study on AI in healthcare.
Percentage of executives who think AI is the future of healthcare; 89%
Percentage of same executives who trust AI with their patients: 13%

I feel like this is just a perfect... something.

Who would you say is, then? I'd like to say Nolan North- he can do a wide array of voices, but there's something in his voice that I can always tell it's Nolan North. Same for Jim Cummings- amazing voice actor who's voiced so many iconic characters, but I almost always know it's him. Not quiiiite the same for Troy Baker, who I feel like can hide his natural voice a smidge more.

I suppose it depends on what you look for- do you like someone who can transform their voice completely so you don't know it's them, or do you enjoy being able to tell who's voicing someone the moment they start speaking?

It's a great example of the hype cycle. I'd argue we've peaked and are on the path to the trough. Then people will figure out that AI is a tool like a hammer and instead of talking about AI as a savior they'll concentrate on what AI can realistically enhance about a specific workflow or aspect of life.

I think it was in the politics thread we talked about people seeing their children as property, but just heard a lovely country song called She's Somebody's Daughter. Basically, before you have dirty, meaningless sex with that rando in the bar, remember she belonged to her daddy first. Just, Jesus Christ. I know they think this is being respectful and aware and such, but really just for the dad. I dunno, maybe I just have my ass up on my shoulders because I'm fucking sick of twang.

There's a whole thing where people now refer to specially Lustful targets and fantasy situations as Someone's Son or Daughter.

"I need someone's son to tie me down and..."

It's so off-putting to me.
