Studio Series

So they put Energon Universe Optimus Prime into the Studio Series line - you know, the Optimus with Megatron’s right arm and cannon. It’s up for PO at Pulse for $80.

Anyone interested in the two non-Wreckgar SS86 Junkions? I'm trying to downsize some of the non named characters and they seem like the first casualities.

But they have names! Junkheap and Scrapheap! How much you want for 'em?

I knew they had names...but I couldn't remember.

I'm seeing them online new for $35 each. How about $50 shipped for the pair?

I got the itch to build Devastator while in Gamestop today. They had Longhaul/Hook, Target had Scavenger and Scrapper. My Wal-Mart added nothing, so I drove over to the next town's Wal-Mart where I thought I saw a row of Mixmasters (or were they Scrappers?) two weeks ago. Today they had not one Constructicon. Rather than waste more gas and time, I ordered Bonecrusher from Amazon and Mixmaster from Nerdzoic with an exclusive Jada Cammy tossed in.

I couldn't resist and combined the parts I have. He balances surprisingly well on one leg! Even with the missing pieces, I'm digging this one more than the Combiner Wars version, which I sold a while back. Titan Class usually feels too cumbersome to me and I feel like I can pick up and play with this one a lot easier. I knew this going in after watching some reviews, but my main issue would be the lack of shoulder ratchet.

Soundwave is pretty sweet. Sleek for sure, far fewer greeblies and tech details. Transformation is intuitive, and different in minor ways from the Siege mold. Some leg panels confused me having cassette player details which I figured would be exposed, but they tuck away in alt mode. Colors are bright, vivid. Weapons are good. His rifle is interesting, as I always used to display it so the missile barrel "wings" were positioned vertically, but they are stuck slotted in and out horizontally.

The cassettes are fine. Ravage uses some of Steeljaw's transformation but is definitely a totally different mold. The birds are very simplistic and maybe attach to the rectangular pegs on Soundwave's forearms? They don't do so very securely though. The missiles and rump are a separate piece from Ravage, and the engines are separate from the birds. I much prefer other versions where they're all in one transformations, no removable parts.

Soundwave is almost too simplified. SS86 Megatron feels like he has way more details. Soundwave seems to fit more with Optimus in terms of detail. I'm sure he'll look right with the Seekers. I don't love the idea of rebuying a bunch of characters I have just for this stylistic change though. But I'll wait and see what they release.
