Storm Collectibles

I got Ken in from BBTS today and I am enjoying just fiddling with him. Haven’t touch anything else in my Pile of Loot shipment. For the others with him in-hand, does the alt head with the cocky grin have a black mark in the center of his chin? Mine does and I don’t see it in the promo shots, but it’s basically dead center which made me wonder if it was on purpose.

After looking around to, I also came to the conclusion that the cleft shouldn’t be there. Thankfully, it came off rather easily with a dab of water and a Magic Eraser sheet.

Ken arrived this morning.

Alright. Yeah. Even coming from the 7" Storm lines where I had SF, MK, Golden Axe, and KoF, this thing does change their game. It feels like a step up in quality all around. Even the sculpt and paint are an improvement. Jada may have their work cut out, or at least, just don't overlap Alpha 3.

Still, I need to see Storm complete a roster. I do wish the initial wave had Chun in it just so they could show they've come to party with the female characters, too, their notorious weakness in my book.

On the other hand, I feel like he Hadoukens as well as the Jada. I never understood the complaint on that one, I can hit the pose.

And random note, Anthony and a few others commented they didn't get the black wire in their stand kit. Mine did.

Mine came with the black wire too along with the clear one. Only one side of the claw part has a rubber overlay though, which I found odd. Not that I plan to ever use this thing. The stand itself is also the weakest part of the figure. I never liked this style.

That is odd, the QA must be all over on that part of the package.

I only wish the Shoryuken was a little more voluminous. But damn, this thing takes me back to the arcade. Right out of the art books.

Now I'm feelin' the Stalkers and KoF hype.

In my restless dreams, I see that town... Guilty Gear.

Where's my James figure with "stick hand in dark mystery hole" action feature??

Got my Ken today, echoing what has been said, he's great. The sculpt and joints look so good (I'm not used to companies continuing pants texture into the knee joints...). I dislike the soft hands, they feel like pencil erasers and pop off easily. And I do get worried about soft plastic degradation. But this guy is in his own class in terms of overall look and posability.

Is it replacing Jada for me? Probably not. I still really like Jada's hard plastic and they're improving quickly. But Storm certainly invokes the feeling of Japanese fighters for me so it feels like a better match here. This is the Ken that's going in my MvC2 display.

Just for fun, quick shot of my POL:

How are the hip balls? Are they as hard and squeeky when moved as on the bigger figures?

No squeak on mine. They're firm, but smooth. There is a drop-down hinge that I don't love, but it's not loose or fragile so I don't consider it a bad thing. Just not really necessary.
