Star Wars Black Series

I know a couple SWBS reviewers were saying Jabba's Palace Leia was back on the table. I'd think stuff like Max Reebo or a bacta tank with Luke or Vader would be desirable. They just keep giving us the same stuff over and over. Are Ugnauts really that much more difficult than Ewoks? Would a dewback break the bank at this point?

I’d be all over all that stuff. I have the Dewback already but it was kind of the first indication how amazing Hasbro could be at animals / monsters—truly one of the coolest things they’ve done and a re-release for those who missed it would be amazing. They do seem to be avoiding big items for black series these days though.

That's what I don't get. They're leaning into animals with GI Joe, a property they own. Is it MORE money to make fauna for SWBS if they already hold that license? I would assume not. Even if they just made a Ronto with Jawas, I'd think a fair number of people would bite if it was a good value. Heck, give me a trash compactor diorama and they can finally get off their butts about making Han and Luke in Stormtrooper outfits again. I think just having it come with a tendril and a stand up Dionaga eyeball would be novel enough for most people. Instead we get Bespin railings; how exciting!

I don't know why they don't just bring back the Rancor Haslab as a Made to Order and clean up off the people who actually wanted it. Spare me the plastic pile of refuse/skulls and cardboard backdrop though.

I wonder how the dewback and tauntauns sold. Feels like they are scarce now but they did a great job with both. Maybe the sales numbers don't support the plastic. Also I'm sure they're gunshy about bigger items because a lot of that stuff languished at retail (I paid almost nothing for the snow speeder, and that TIE was legendarily discounted) but with the newer made to order model they could really kick things up again with less risk.

I love the Dewback, it was executed so well. The Taun Taun, not so much. It had very little articulation in the legs. The Wampa had more articulation. I was disappointed with the Taun Taun. These beasts were SOOOO early on in Black Series. It's a shame they shied away from doing stuff like that because that's what gives the line some variety. I have some shelves where it's overwhelmingly human silhouettes, one after another, just piled into the shelf. Then there's my Empire Strikes Back Hoth shelf. So much variety with the two beasts, the probe droid.. It's among my favorite displays. Same with my RotJ Jabba's throne room. Sure, there's no dais, but his armrest is there with the hookah pipe, Salacious, Gamorrean Guards, Bib Fortuna, Han in Carbonite hanging in the background. More stuff like that to break up the monotony, please.

I know it's highly unlikely, but man would I love to get more Dark Forces/Jedi Knight figures - Jan Ors, Jerec, any of the Dark Jedi, and most of all the original Darktrooper.

As for beasts etc., I don't think we're going to see much like that in 6" until the SW has another "moment" in pop culture (which may or may not happen) and/or someone else gets the license. I think the Rancor HasLab's failure really hurt that part of the line.

I do wonder if the rancor failure to launch (not wanting to reignite the convo, just "is this the end result of...") is why they haven't done more beasts since. Like they just bailed entirely.

NOMI SUNRIDER! FUCK YEAH!

You know which alien feels reasonable and they would absolutely nail it with? The massiff. Give me those alien Tatooine lizard dogs, man!

Massiffs would be dope.

Every time I think about switching to Vintage I get overwhelmed. I feel like i'm committed. (Prefer the bigger scale, too, but there are days...)

I'm thinking about pulling a reset. I don't know how feasible that is though.
How many more 7in Chewbaccas are you in the market for in the next 5 years? Can I interest you in a second farmboy Luke in 2 years while receiving no Ep.4 Obi Wan re-releases outside of a $100+ diorama pack? How about no hope of ever seeing a Landspeeder for the two of them?

Don't worry though. There's a nearly $30 innaccurate Jawa from a tv series you can make do with in the meantime. See you right back here in 12 months for our next Chewbacca!

A rancor and a re-done Wampa with full articulation would be tops on my beast list.
I'm actually cool with my Wampa. He looks good on the shelf. I'd love a Rancor, though. No Haslab needed. Just frikken make him and put out Malakili and Oola around the same time for enticement for those debating on him.
