Star Wars Black Series

Yeah, they really need to start including a saber that has the blade fixed in, and a separate blade-less hilt for those who want to display it that way. I think my success rate for sabers in general is quite low- they either break completely at the peg, or the peg gets damaged after a fall and the saber is never quite the same after that.

I don't have enough experience to say whether or not they're the best or the cheapest, but I've ordered a few custom/replacement pieces from Cubic3DPrints on Etsy, and they've all been really good quality. Your mileage may vary, of course, but it's worth a try. They have other Star Wars pieces too like Holocrons, cloaks, etc.

Going through some stored figures, some of my older lightsaber blades just dissolved or broke at the insert pin. Not bent or anything, just done with it, I guess.

What's my best third party saber solution?
That is horrifying. I wonder if that's happened to mine. My older lightsabers are packed away. I can't believe the lightsabers are dissolving. They are literally becoming one with the Force.

I hope the newer sabers hold up and last. I'd hate to think in the end, all my sabers will dissolve or break for no reason in my lifetime. The lightsabers and saber users are my favorite part of Star Wars. If I don't have Jedi and Sith with sabers, I don't even need to be doing this.

I keep forgetting--I got SMEE and Merrin this weekend. SMEE is great. Although his mouse companion is definitely a contender for the most lose-able accessory ever created.

Merrin's just a lovely figure. I'm not deep into the Survivor games lore but they just keep making fantastic figures from the games. Hope this continues to extend to other Gaming Greats characters.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know or remember around when Hasbro stopped making the thin, little saber blade plug in tips that are dissolving/becoming one with the force?

Like, how long have we been getting the thicker blade tips?

I was just checking some of my more current figures, and those sabers definitely feel much more sturdy. Even if you collide blades together having a lightsaber fight with your figures they seem safe and like they will hold. (as long as you collide them gently of course)

Honestly the only blade that bugs me is Mara and Jaina because the purple is harder to source. And I can't even begin to tell you if I know those hilts are shared with other Jedi. Outside of those two.

2023 releases, but even 2025 has iterated on it with Luke's.
So we've only been getting the good stuff for two years? While still getting a sprinkle of the old ways within it? That is devastating. All our lightsabers are just gonna fizzle and disappear. Become One.

Mourn them do not. Miss them do not.

F*** You Yoda! I'm gonna miss and mourn each of them every day! You stupid green Muppet!

(I'm sorry I just had an imaginary conversation between myself and a fictional character)

I opened up my SDCC set this weekend and I really don't feel too ripped off for buying it (is that really my standard of judgement for what constitutes a good toy now?).

The base is really nice and I'm thinking about doing a diorama that will light up under the lava. And to think a month ago I was pretty much out on Star Wars collecting, now I'm planning dioramas.

I was also looking at some 3D printed diorama elements on eBay, particularly Palpatine's throne room and the trash compactor. Got to file those in the back of my brain for a time when my bank account is not being assaulted from every direction.

Cubic3dprints on Etsy is where I get my replacement blades. They're very solid. But the peg will break if something takes a nose dive, because they are, of course, printed. Its really hard to tell cause they're really well done but I notice it since I try to diffuse all my blades with really fine sandpaper. His hilts are ok, but the paint comes off easy. He also has a ton of colors. Just keep looking through the different blades for different characters and you'll see some cool ones. I bought a couple pink ones for Jaina, in case they make another one so both will have pink. And I bought some Teal, White, Purple, Blue, Orange, and Yellow. He's where I got my blades for Shin and Baylen, as well as other colors for Galen Marek. Can't recommend him enough. There's another seller that does more hilts, and I buy some of those off him from time to time. He includes blades, but those blades are... not great. His hilts are slightly larger then Hasbros but they underscale alot of their hilts for some dumb reason anyway. And they don't come painted. Cubic paints the hilts. The blade shades are a bit... off. But it makes for some nice variety. His blues are a little more greenish, but not bad. Its still blue. And his purples are a smidge darker. But the other colors are peak. I absolutely love them. I honestly bought like 15 blades I don't have a use for yet lol. I just got them in case I want to use them. On a good note, the blades from Cubic fit the hilts from replacementsabers fairly well for the most part. Honestly though, after doing alot of digging, those are the only 2 I know of that are worth looking at. Replacementsabers for the hilts and Cubic for the blades. Cubic honestly doesn't make alot of hilts, at least not yet. But he seems to be makeing more as time goes on. Plus he ships fairly quickly for a 3d print service. But odds are he makes them in large batches and just sells them off and does more when he runs out or something.

Thank you for taking the time to break that down.

I agree with you on the under sized hilts. Sometimes it feels like even the figures can't hold them. I don't mind doing the painting myself so maybe I'll mix and match these options.

Also, and I haven't looked yet, but maybe there's a more accurate Mara one out there.
