It's still a ways off, but I'm interested to see what, if anything, they do for the 50th anniversary in 2027. They can easily turn it into an overall Star Wars celebration rather than just ANH. I feel like that'll be a good time to do even some of the lesser characters they're not sure will sell too well- folks will be in a celebratory mood and more likely to buy whatever, but it's a good time to throw the fans a bone too and make those long awaited characters like Lobot, Nien Nunb, Death Star Gunner, etc.
Finally got around to opening the new wave, and they're all pretty stellar. I agree about Chewie's bowcaster; they've all been pretty bad, but this one definitely is. I've never really cared for the design of it either; it just sticks out way too much. I'll probably just end up gluing the attachment on, or just having him wear it over his shoulder. Other than that, I agree, it's a pretty stellar Chewie
Han is a huge improvement. Don't know if it's quiiiite a perfect face sculpt, but like the new farmboy Luke, it's pretty close. It's funny- it looks like how he looks in some scenes, but not others. Can't quite explain it. Fantastic figure otherwise; love the sculpted lines on his pants, and the little paint details on the things on his belt (that little pop of green is so nice and clean)
Merrin is a long awaited figure, and she didn't disappoint. I wish the magic effect didn't stick out quite so much; I'd have been fine with a little fireball or something, but it's nice to get a new piece. Really hope it won't be long until we get Greez and Cere.
Ezra is fantastic- great likeness, some great paint and articulation. We don't have a whole lot of red clothing in the line, especially this shade, so he'll pop nicely. The Night Trooper is really cool; I do wish there were swappable hands or a swappable non-broken helmet (or the damage was in a different place), but it's a small nit. A fun, cool, unique trooper. Interested to see if they reuse any of the wrapped parts for a Mayday down the line.
ISB Trooper is nice. Don't know if it's just mine, but the forearm armor seems to restrict things a bit, or at least make his joint a little tighter than it feels it should be. I'll probably only pick up one of these guys, unless they go on clearance and the heads are swappable with other figures.
The Cal set rocks. Glad they finally included another color saber; I currently have him dual-wielding, which is my preferred style in the game. Would love to get one more for the big crossguard saber and have a figure of him with all the saber styles. Wasn't expecting to love the handlebar stache head as much as I do; the other one feels too small in a way. Turgle is such an unexpected surprise. Of course I wish he was better articulated, but I just can't get over the fact we have him. He stands just fine, and while a hinged jaw could've been cool, the dopey open-mouthed expression is just so him. Same with Skoova- I never thought we'd have an official figure. More articulation would've been great, but like Grogu, he's so small, and never really does anything too crazy in the game, that I'm fine with a static figure. I'll probably end up gluing his helmet, though, since it keeps falling off any time I move him. Really happy we're finally getting more non-trooper figures from the Jedi games; I'd obviously love any and everyone they'll give us, but again- Greez, Cere, Bode, Ninth Sister, and maybe Cordova, and I'd be set personally.
Hasbro has really been killing it with Black Series lately- this is the best they've ever been, I'd argue. Absolutely can't wait for Qimir, Barriss, and the Temple Guard. Obviously I'd have loved them all sooner, but I'm glad they'll all benefit from the new way of doing things.
