Star Wars Black Series

Got the Imperial Remnant Warlord and Thorn in. No movement on Doom- seems like he was one of those "we generate a tracking # and mark as delivered but don't actually ship it yet" cases. That's cool, though- one thing at a time. Not like we've been in a drought of figures lately.

I'm having the kind of week where I got an alert that Target sent me SOMETHING and I'm just rolling with it. I'll have one clone commando some time in the next few days and that makes me happy. I've decided I'm not even going to log in to check, it's going to be a little surprise for myself.

I didn't realize that the Solo Twins 2 Pack was going to possibly be shipping so soon. It has an August 1st estimated release date. I don't know why I was thinking they were more like September/October. But hey, that's cool with me.

I'm not prepared mentally for a huge influx but if they decide to send out the twins and the KOTOR two pack in two weeks I will be a happy little Star Wars nerd.

Commander Thorn showed up this morning as a little weekend bright spot. Is this the first time we've got this gatling gun style blaster in Black Series? I didn't remember it in his marketing photos and it's a really pleasant surprise (especially since I was just rearranging my clones on Thursday thinking "man, it's kinda sad they always come with the same two or three guns EVERY single time" and then boom, here's this BAMF).

I know I'm basic and boring but I really do love the care they put into making individual clones look good. The armor details on him are very nice. Only complaint, and this is the first time I've EVER had it happen, is I can see where his kilt is glued on (I know it's not a kilt but I can NEVER remember the goddamned name for it). But I'm the type of collector who isn't bothered by a little imperfection like that so if this particular copy of Thorn was going to be sent to anyone, send it to the easy to please collector who will just ignore the slightly insightly fabric spot on the front.

I received Thorn, Doom and the Imperial Remnant Warlord today from Target via UPS. Do you all think Clone Wars is Hasbro's SWBS best seller since we seem to get a lot of product from the Clone Wars.

I think it sells well, but I also think Brandon's SW is AOTC/Clone Wars and his influence on characters is starting to show with the last couple waves. I think the increase in accessories, like Watto and Geonosian Warrior, may also be attributed to new leadership.

I Googled his name because and found this interview, clicked into the middle and he literally said this at my click point:

I will say, I love the character assortments they've been putting out the last couple years, and this year may have been the best and most fun. But Brandon is right, there are so many different parts of Star Wars that mean so much to so many fans.

The Expanded Universe/Legends stuff, comics, games, books, animated series, films, toys, you name it. All covering different eras too. And it seems Brandon and this team really gets it and puts out a great assortment covering a little bit of everything each year.

And I have loved it.

I'll echo the sentiment. We got characters in the last year or two that I thought we wouldn't get for ages- some of them in the same wave as one another! And it didn't necessarily feel like they cheaped out on any of them, either- most of them got the love and care and unique parts they needed. The accessories have been getting better, and just the overall feel of the figures too. I don't know who's responsible, but whatever it is they're doing, I really hope they keep it up!

Just got Devon and Rook, really nice figures. Roll on Mando wave 2 and NJO Jacen and Jaina!

Excited to see what SDCC has in store. Hopefully more NJO since I basically grew up reading that series and I'd love to see a few ST refreshes thrown in. Nothing crazy, just some updates of core and legacy characters (and give me Ben Solo!)

I love the assortment we've been getting the past few years. I do feel like the OT hasn't been in focus much lately but it doesn't feel like they avoid any particular era (other than the sequels?) and I am loving the focus on the EU and gaming worlds the past few years.

Doom just arrived five days early and two hours after Thorn (Target, sincerely, you could've saved the box and shipped them together!). He's light on accessories with just the two standard sidearms but I think he's my favorite color palette in a while. I know he's just an homage to Dr. Doom, but the light gray armor instead of the usual crisp white? Fucking POPS, man. I can't explain it, it's just a really lovely color combo.
