Star Wars Black Series

It's an old minis game but honestly, it covered the Star Wars universe so well I call it my dream checklist for Black Series. It existed before the sequels, and before Rebels/Bad Batch etc. so those characters are missing of course but in terms of comics, expanded universe, and deep dives, I've never seen a line cover a roster as well as Star Wars Miniatures did.
That's so many minis. And yeah, the Imperial Knights there look pretty good. I like Draco's pose.

I really liked the flow of the Marasiah Fel mini from that wave, too.

It's funny, when I bought them I was getting lots of dozens of them off eBay for like 20 bucks, but I went to look up a character the other day and some of them are going for a lot of money now. I love the set so much it'll be pried from my cold dead hands though.

Commander Thorn just shipped from Target, with Doom preparing to ship. Ordered them back when they had that Star Wars promo and they were each $20; was half expecting them to get cancelled, but sure enough!

EDIT: Doom is on his way now too!

EDIT 2: And the Imperial Warlord. Just when I get done with one avalanche of product, they send another! 😅

That’s such a terrible problem to have.Let us know if we can lighten that burden for you by taking that product off your hands. 😁

I have to wait until the 19th for the privilege of haunting the website and local stores to buy my Thorn/Doom duo.
Fuckin' Target exclusives....
I ordered two Imperial Warlords to get free shipping. I'll probably return the second one unless I can think of a good use for it as a custom.

I've had to stop by Target twice this week for basic shit for the house and I have done the slooooow drive by the toy aisle to see if the Warlord is out. I have Thorn and Doom preordered because I am a fucking addict and can't stop buying clones apparently. (And ten seconds after I posted this the app told me both troopers have shipped. Wee!)

Speaking of clones, I was doing some reshuffling last night and man, I wish I had a space where I could just do a massive clone diorama. I have no duplicates, but I've got all these different slightly unique clones I'd love to throw on a battlefield being lead by their respective Jedi Generals.

Also somehow despite my struggling to know who to put where I only came across one clone with some warping in his legs. One of the really old ones, the four-pack that came with a yellow, green, blue, and red basic trooper. I don't even remember where I got it, but Green is having some knee issues, he's looking arthritic.

That's so very kind of you to offer, but the Jedi have taught me to be selfless, so I will gladly shoulder this burden so as not to trouble you.

To be fair, though- we all know that, until a shipped figure is in your possession, it's Schrodinger's Action Figure. So there's every possibility that this shipment could be a THORN in my side, and spell my DOOM. *rimshot*

Visiting Rise of the Resistance for the first time last weekend was the first time I'd ever truly thought about what a squad of Stormtroopers in the flesh would be like. Walking out of that shuttle into an Imperial Hanger with 18ish Stormtroopers *who moved* was the first time I ever actually thought "they are a little bit scary". Then I kept scanning the room and seeing what it felt like to be in a 360, fully-built Star Wars set - I touched everything. :)

And wished I had anything like it for my Black Series display. :(

I think if the Black Series TIE Fighter they did proves anything, it's that Black Series vehicles just aren't feasible. If that's how big a TIE Fighter was, the Falcon would be way bigger, and so on (not that collectors wouldn't buy it, though). Unless you have a ton of extra room, or just make it, like, your only display, I don't know if a hangar of any sort for Black Series would be doable. Which does kinda suck, but here we are.

I still gotta experience Rise of the Resistance. When we went to Disneyland for Star Wars night a couple years ago during Celebration, that was probably what we were looking forward to most, which of course meant it was the one ride they closed early and the one we didn't get to go on. 😅

I wonder if the TIE was a bad choice because it wasn't the classic TIE, and TIE by their nature take up TOO MUCH FUCKING REAL ESTATE, but yeah, if we're going with true to scale most Black Series vehicles would be prohibitively big. I have the snow speeder. I LOVE it. I cannot figure out where to put it so it kind of hovers behind my Classified vehicles. I struggle to make room for the landspeeder and the dewback and those aren't huge.

I always turn to the old DC Direct BTAS Batwing and Batcave in discussions like this. Did I buy both of those things back in the day? Absolutely- they're frickin' gorgeous pieces. Have I had anywhere to put them in the decade or so since I've gotten them? Absolutely not. Batwing has been leaning on the wall behind the BTAS shelf, so you can only kinda see it, and the Batcave was in its original box for ages and became a glorified table; I did finally take it out a year or two ago, but it's just been sitting in storage unassembled, waiting for me to have room.

I always love when collectors hang a ship from the ceiling, and honestly, that might be the only choice for some of the bigger ships, but it's not an option I currently have either. Ships that big are really only for a very specific type of collector- one with the perfect balance of space, money, etc. Everyone else is just fooling themselves. That's why, in all honesty, I don't always mind when the scale gets fudged a bit- something being undersized just means I'm more likely to be able to work it into the collection.

Rise is such a great ride. It incorporates so many different ride types from all the parks. I went on it for the first time last year (when we were there in 2019 is wasn't open yet) with my two boys and we loved it. Smugglers Run is just as fun, but still a glorified Star Tours. Sitting at the Dejarik table though is pretty damn emotional for me. Did you get to Oga's and have any drinks?
