Star Wars Black Series

Galle shipped from Amazon. Forgot I ordered 2- 1 to hopefully swap out some Bly parts, if they're compatible. Excited to get the next wave, even if it feels like I'm still appreciating/catching up from the last one!

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't realize he was shipping so soon. Looks like my Lt. Galle figure will ship tomorrow and be here Friday. I'll have to cancel my order at Pulse.

I got Bariss Offee today, and once again Hasbro did a great job with a Jedi. Nice blend of plastic and soft goods for what immediately became one of my favorite Black Series figures this year. But I do love Prequel Jedi.

The bottom line where this show failed is you don't kill off a bunch of Jedi's in the first episode and not the character most of the fans thought was going to carry the show. Carrie Moss is very well beloved and you kill off her character within the first 10 minutes, fans are going to riot. I personally didn't mind the first season and thought the second season was going to be a banger. The actor who played the Stranger did an excellent job to me with his character in the Good Place series so I welcomed him in this series.

I mean.. maybe? But I don't remember too many people getting that angry about Moss. Nor do I see that referenced very often in diatribes about why the show was bad. Plenty of us actually expected Moss's character to be more of a cameo scenario than a major character for the entire show.

Yeah, I never expected her to play a big role in the show, personally. Nor, if I remember correctly, was it ever really promoted that she was going to carry the show- I think it was clear from the beginning that the show belonged to Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-jae. Granted, I follow along with trailers and articles and such, which I know not everyone does, but once I noticed every piece of footage of her was like the same 10 seconds or so, all from the same 2 locations, I figured it wasn't gonna be a big role. And yet, it ended up being bigger than I thought it would be, albeit mostly in flashbacks. Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I totally get the excitement of seeing an actor you love in something, only for them to be killed off quickly, but I for one loved how unpredictable the show was at times. The fight with the Stranger in episode 5 was one of the coolest, yet shocking episodes because I didn't expect those deaths. As much as I love Star Wars, its heroes do have plot armor out the wazoo, so it was nice to see that switched up throughout the show. Nobody was safe.

That's why I've gladly gotten the figures too, and would honestly probably get almost any others they released. Seems like the representation is done after The Stranger, but I'd even take a Torbin if we got him. He at least feels more crucial than ol' Bazil.

Yeah, Barriss is wearing come clunky heels. Not sure what the reason is but her shoes are taller than Luminara's.

The Stranger's fight in the jungle vs. the full crew of Jedi was Star Wars as monster movie, legitimately terrifying. So well done.
Iirc the old Bariss figures from the smaller days had some pretty big heels too. I think it may be part of her movie design. It was altered for CW, as was her height it seems. She should be a bit on the taller side in live action.

The Acolyte had its moments. I enjoyed alot of it. I was meh on some of it. But I think the problem I had with it was that the main character and her twin weren't very interesting to me. I quite enjoyed alot of the other aspects. The fight scene in the woods was steller. It also made me yell at my TV when they killed Jecki. But I kinda saw it coming unfortunately. I thought Qimirs arc was really well done. And he was well played. All the actors did great. I just wasn't interested in the story they wanted to tell. But I quite liked alot of the subplots. Sols was cool. Vernestras seemed like it could be interesting. Qimirs deserved a mini series of its own. But the main story was kinda meh. I would love for them to do a couple of the other characters still. And Carry Ann in her flashback attire could knock out a decent mold they can reuse for some other characters like Stass Allie and Adi Galia. Could also be a decent under the cloak attire for Deppa Billaba. Also selfish reasons, I need one to make my Meetra Surik custom cause they haven't done anything that is close to generic female jedi. A few of the males share the same outfit and parts, it wouldn't be much different. I really wanna fill out more KotoR stuff and I'll make some of them myself if I can lol.

Anybody else bother getting the night trooper? It is so strange to have what is absolutely a horror figure in a Star Wars line, but he's very well done. My only issue is I can't imagine army-building him with such a unique design. Easy to go one and one with him, or just have him flanking Enoch and his not-dead trooper.

I quite like it, myself. There's some disappointing parts, like the sculpted cracks but lack of gold paint on the back, but it's got a lot of style. I just filled in the unpainted cracks with some gold paint. The Night Troopers in general are so cool, but a weird example of an army builder. Because unless they all somehow experienced the exact same damage to their armor, they wouldn't look the same. It's a shame there's no way to customize the armor or swap pieces or anything. Like the Clones, they could release a new, slightly different Night Trooper until the end of time and I'd probably buy them. I love their look, and love posing them in more crooked, angular poses to come off more "living dead".

I bought a few of the Night Troopers just to encourage more spooky undead stuff. I do wish the helmet was removable with a full zombie portrait underneath.

Now that you mention it, that's not a bad idea. I doubt the head is fully sculpted/painted, but are there any zombie heads from any other lines that would work on them? Trying to think of Black Series-scale zombie figures, but I'm coming up empty.
