Star Wars Black Series

I think I mentioned this before, but when I ordered my Misty/Cav set, I also ordered a Marvel figure for free shipping. Later I changed my mind on the Marvel figure and decided I was fine paying the shipping and cancelled the Marvel figure. Today I did get the set and am saving the opening experience for later, but... I still didn't get charged for shipping.

I found Plo and Wolffe on the disney store site for preorder. So I ordered them there. I was stoked, until they charged me up front. I did not know they did that. Also, $10 for shipping, so I'm paying a little more, but at least it won't be aftermarket. Also said they wont be out till August but some of you have them already so...

I somehow totally missed that Plo went up for order on ShopDisney at all, so I'm extra thankful for Doc's help. I skipped all the May the 4th stuff this year- nothing really caught my eye, and it's always a bit of a clusterfuck anyway. Total First World Problem, but yeah, Disney's shipping is always what gets me. Always feels like it tacks on a lot, and even if you get the free shipping, it still feels like it takes forever to get moving. As a person with little money or patience to spare, it's not a good combo for me. 😅

Still, I'd say the set is worth the wait. The biggest bummer for me was the pinned legs on Plo; they really need to start putting the new Jedi body into rotation more, but everything else was really nice.

I'd forgotten I'd ordered the re-release of the first Plo figure when he came out, what, last year? I saw a custom kit the other day to help turn him into the Jedi Power Battles Plo, which, being that that was how I was first introduced to the character, I have a strange amount of nostalgia for. I still think of him as having a yellow blade.

I think I've only bought from the Disney Store when they send out their freeship code every so often. They were my go-to for the Disney Toy Box figures, which I fricken adored.

I did run into a very funny/weird thing with my Plo - the front of his overlay can pop out like he's untucked his robe in he front. It pops right back in so he displays just fine, but I've never had that happen with any of my Jedi before. Wondering if I ripped some glue or something posing him. His waist articulation's a bit ratcheted/stiff but, visible pegs on his knees aside, just a really great figure.

Man, I thought the new Archive Wave was supposed to go up today at 1:00 PM. I guess not. Maybe they are holding them until May 28th at 1:00 PM when the Mandalorian and Grogu Black Series figures go up.

If that date is true.

But the 21 and 28 of May were the dates reported by Yakface.

It ain't your fault, Camel- Hasbro's gonna Hasbro. Guess it depends on if they're planning a mini livestream or anything to show off the new Mando figures; assuming there's like 3 or 4 figures in that wave, that may be too sparse for a stream, so they may reveal the Archive alongside them.

Or maybe it'll go up tomorrow- early screenings start today, but the official release date is still tomorrow, so maybe they'll show them off to coincide. Do we know who's in the Archive wave yet? I guess that could be one way of doing an updated Pedro head on one of the older bodies.

Saw Mando.

Of course I'm wired to watch these movies looking for accuracy and also looking for what they're going to do in the future. And even worse, looking at what they're probably just not going to do, even if it would have been preferable to what they served up the first time.

There are a couple designs I might go in for if they did.

It was fun seeing something like the Remnant Stormtrooper, the one they put out in the first wave of M&G figures, and seeing how they had his little ammo strap thing across his chest. Just fun little details that are fun to compare to your own display.

I think of all the designs I saw that I liked and wanted, my biggest uncertainty were which of the
Mercenary Droids they were gonna do. I'm sure we'll get at least one or two, but there were like 5 or 6 different droid heads alone, let alone all the different body combos and weapons and everything. I wouldn't mind if they did something similar to the Mandalorian Shriek Hawks, where we got a single release and then a 2 pack with 2 more designs.

I just saw Mandalorian and Grogu and all I'll say for now is Rotta the Hutt is at the top of my needs for a Black series figure.
He was revealed as one of the upcoming Hot Toys figures, and he comes with beefy arms and an axe. So I'm guessing he's basically Goro in this movie and I'm here for it.

Yeah, I saw that. He's a big boy based on what I remember his dimensions being. Very cool looking. But I'll wait and be hopeful for a B.S.

Oh for sure - that was kind of my point too. If HT is making him, there's no way he's not already being produced in a factory for BS. No way.
