Star Trek

It's been the topic of discussion for at least the last 2 pages, as far as QC issues and the wave "being fixed" before finally coming out.

Interspersed with talk about the actual height of the figures and the lack of any actual ability to showcase that by the people who somehow got their hands on some figures.

Halting shipments to fix QC issues.
Well that's more than some companies would do, so props to them. Still at this point, I'm afraid it still looks like a "too good to be true" situation but I guess we need to wait a little bit longer to see for sure.

I was talking to a buddy in the industry about this last night.

They said that there is absolutely zero way that Brian can have these fixed by that same factory, and have them looking anything like the prototypes or the way Nacelle wants--period. Let alone in 30 days. Brian should have never given a time frame.

The reason these are so cheap is because the factory they used is known for shortcuts. You get what you pay for.

Buddy also went into great detail on the science behind toy making that I am too dumb to get into here, but it would basically be starting over from scratch in order to get these anywhere in the vicinity of decent. That includes new plastic, reshaping the molds, etc. Case in point, look at that God awful bicep swivel in the pic below compared to the prototype. The factory made that change. And in order to get that back to how it was in the prototype, that would require a new mold, new science behind it, etc. That isn't going to be fixed in 30 days. Again, certainly not by this factory.

They were warned not to use these people, but in an effort to save a buck, here we are. Trying to make expensive toys on the cheap will get you here.

This whole situation is effed. They're either going to say screw it and to put out a second batch of dogshit figures, or they're going to have to break contract and move somewhere that's more willing and capable than this current factory, and Brian is going to financially lose his ass trying to get these right.

Rick, would you say the factory sent samples to Nacelle that looked right and then made this production run, or did they send samples that looked like the bad Archer to Nacelle and Nacelle proceeded anyway?

I can't imagine Nacelle approving the look of the production figures if given a chance... but... if it's the former, that's fraud. Not that it would matter in this case. Or, I guess I'm trying to see who deceived who first - Nacelle and the customers, or factory to Nacelle.

Either way - this sucks. I wonder if this is the same factory handling The Expanse figs for them.

100%.

How this factory continues to get work is beyond me. They are known for this shit.

Got an email from BBTS, explaining the situation -

Hello,
Thank you for pre ordering the Star Trek: The Next Generation Fig.001 Captain Jellico 1/10 Scale Action Figure from BigBadToyStore!

Nacelle has informed us that during a recent quality control review, they identified QC issues affecting the paint on a portion of the Wave 1 production. To ensure collectors receive figures that meet the quality standards they expect and deserve, Nacelle made the decision to temporarily pause shipments while a solution was put in place.

We're happy to confirm that replacement figures are currently being produced by Nacelle. Once completed, these replacement units will be sent directly to BBTS.
The new estimated ship date to you will be in February 2026.

yikes. I was really hoping to see this line succeed... I pre ordered wave 1, and while its nice to see them communicating.. that Mirror Archer doesn't look good... a head swap and easy logo application made me a custom Mirror Archer... and in fact an entire Enterprise Mirror Crew... T'pol took some work... I typically will replace my meager custom efforts when a commercial offering is made, but that isn't an improvement :-(
