Snow C.A.T. Live!

I think the Conquest is as close to a lock for a Classified Joe HasLab as we’ve got at this point. They’ve got to want to get a Joe plane of some kind out there, and it won’t be the Skystriker. I would be happy to buy it for you if the Conquest is the 2027 HasLab.

You're the best, Ace.

Snow C.A.T.

16,437 / 8,000 205.46% of funding goal.

I'm going to say this might be the final total now. I'll check in again but I think it might be settled now.

I'm glad to see others interested in the X-30 Conquest in Classified. I think the Skystriker would be too large at this scale. The Conquest had plenty of cartoon exposure. And its design is more unique to the brand, whereas the Skytriker is just a F-14 (and/or Valkryie from Macross). Sure the Skystriker is a huge part of GIJoe, but I think the Conquest just works better for Classified.

If the pattern of alternating Joe and Cobra vehicles for Haslabs continues, we'll be getting a Cobra vehicle next year. I'm thinking the Moray hydrofoil. Not sure of any other Cobra vehicles from Haslab I'd want, especially that aren't ridiculously large (like a Sky Raven would be). And since we haven't gotten exact opposing vehicles yet back to back (Dragonfly and Rattler are close being air vehicles, but they're also different types of aircraft), maybe 2027 will be the Conquest. The only Haslab Joe sea options I can see against the Moray would be a WHALE or Tactical Battle Platform.

The Hydrofoil would be huge, even compared to the HISS or SnowCAT. I don't know if they'll go in that direction. In fact, I don't even want to give them ideas for larger vehicles at this point. I want them to refocus on a scale that's ready for retail. Love the VAMP, Stinger, Ferret, Trouble Bubble, can't wait for the AWE Striker, and keeping within that scale, I'd like to see things like the SHARC, Moccasin, Thunder Machine, Polar Bear, Armadillo.. anything from that list is doable within the same range as the VAMP/Stinger.

Here is an example of what size a Classified Skystriker could be if ever made. It is just too large at 6" scale. The problem of storing/displaying the Rattler gets exponentially harder with a Skystriker. All those vehicles in the thumbnail are 6" scale (the ones on the table, not the images of the Dragonfly and EOV).

Yeah I think the Hydrofoil is just a bit too big. I mean it would be at least as wide as the Snow C.A.T. and longer than pretty much everything released so far (just a bit longer than the Dragonfly and Rattler). Also what electronics would they include? There is the spotlights, and whatever dashboards they have that could be lighted. Maybe add some new lighting bars? Hopefully they could include a dynamic display stand that can work in both modes (standard and hydrofoil).

Anyway I personally think they are either going to swing for the fences, or face the reality of the current economy. Something big and closer to $500US versus scaling back a bit on the Haslab offerings so that they remain near the $300US price point. Something big would probably have to wait for the Joe offering and go with a WHALE. Scaled back could be a Thunder Machine with only a couple figures and not as kitted out as the Snow C.A.T. trying to make it worth the $300US price point. A sub-$300US Thunder Machine could probably work.

That or just start trying the MTO format and see what you can do for say $200US.

In terms of vehicles large enough to carry the HasLab banner, but small enough to not require you build a second garage on your house, we actually don't have a lot of options left. My best bet is that we'll see either the Water Moccasin or the Moray next. I think those both, accounting for 1:12 scale, will end up being too big for Hasbro to feel confident releasing them any other way. So they'll just add a bunch of shit on to them to make it plussed up for a bigger price point. But I also think we'll see something closer to the Dragonfly/HISS price point for one of those.

The only other Cobra option, really, is the Mamba. I'm not sure the Joe team would jump on another helicopter already, and I'm not sure the Mamba is popular enough with Joe fans to carry a 300 dollar price tag. But maybe.

After that, the Joes need their Conquest. Maybe the Mauler?

I don't see Hasbro abandoning the HasLab model as long as there's even one vehicle they can technically justify being up in that lights-n-sounds 250-350 price point. It's clearly profitable. But I also do think we're potentially going to be seeing more made-to-order and exclusive pre-order type smaller vehicles as they run out of the big ones.

OR, they're going to go all-out and do a 650 dollar Night Raven and dare you not to buy it.

Those big flying vehicles have been easy for me to pass on. I wasn’t tempted in any way by the Dragonfly or Rattler. I wouldn’t back a Conquest or a Night Raven. I’m not opposed to flying vehicles though, I just want smaller ones like the Sky Hawk or even the FANG. I know the third party that did the Sky Hawk is also doing a FANG that even has a canopy. I’d be way more interested in other land vehicles. Besides the ones I mentioned a post ago, I’d be interested in the STUN, maybe the Triple T.

Yeah, there's a bit of delusion running through some of the fanbase. The Skystriker, the Tomahawk, the Night Raven, the Whale, the Mamba, the Condor, the Demon, a (remastered) APC, and yes, even the Moray would all be ridiculously big. I love them all as much as the next fan but unless you've got yourself a mansion or ranch, there's just nowhere to put it all, not to mention how awkward they would be to handle and mess about with.

As to what I'd like to see that's still reasonable:

Joes: Silver Mirage, Wolverine, Sky Hawk, Conquest, Sharc, Polar Battle Bear, Devilfish, Desert Fox, Mudfighter

Cobra: ASP, FANG, Water Moccasin, Night Landing, Firebat, Thunder Machine, Wolf, Sea Ray, Dreadnok Cycle, Stiletto, Imp. AGP, Despoiler, Evader, maybe even a HISS II (man, I wish)

Maybe a Mobat or Mauler, and Destro's Dominator as Haslabs.
