Full wave has arrived!
Opened Warbow first. It's actually a pretty nice figure! Something about the translucent plastic gives the joints a fluidity, but hopefully won't eventually become brittle. I'm seeing it on the recent Secret Wars Iceman, the elbow and knee joints are cast in a less translucent plastic. It's off-putting that they're noticeably more opaque than the rest of the figure. Warbow comes with a crossbow, two sets of hands. The eyepatch looks like he's wearing a ladies thong on his head.
Phantom Rider is fine. The new parts are all sculpted well, but should he really be on a blank body? The cowboy hat isn't removable, though the double holster belt can probably be heated off. I think the boots may be reuse? The glove cuffs look like part of the sculpt, but have to be overlays like they are on anyone using the Vulcan body. He comes with three extra hands (pair of trigger grip, pair of fists, and one open left) and two revolvers.
Ai Apaec is great, for a six-armed character. I'll never really understand how this can be anatomically possible. With Spiral, the torso/shoulder transition is more hidden, but this is pretty much a nude transition with a lot of made up muscles. That upper torso is obviously brand new, and thicker than the Amazing Fantasy body it's based on. The torso loses butterfly joints (and doesn't add them for new arms) and the lower ab hinge but retains the mid torso pivot. He comes with two more open hands, having two pairs of fists and one pair of open already plugged in. He also comes with two heads, eyes wide open and squinting, just like the Secret Wars figure. None of the hands have the white rectangle/trapezoid painted on the back. Exact same height as SW Spidey, 1/4" shorter than retro Spidey body.
Werewolf By Night just feels like an old figure. Like the plastic specifically, I suppose because it's not using ABS for the pinned elbows. His mouth is REALLY wide open. His feet seem huge. I still think this Jackal body would have made a great Perez era Avengers Beast. He has zero accessories but gets away with it for being a long requested character. He will look great with other Midnight Sons and supernatural characters.
Iron Man actually looks pretty slick. I don't love the color scheme, but a specific that puts me off is the design of his helmet. Typically he has some kind of point or squarish widow's peak to his mask. This is reversed, where the gold rises highest in the center, and black comes down on either side past the temple. If he had a more traditional shape to his face plate, I'd be way more into this. But he's not a bad figure. His range is pretty much on par with other Iron Man figures. He has plates that are removable from his gauntlets, that can be swapped with plates that reveal blasters. Seems redundant if he can still fire from his palms. which the sculpt seems to suggest. Two sets of hands - fists and open.
WWII Wolverine is a great brand new sculpt. Too bad it continues the trend of too-tall Wolverine bodies. He's about a half inch taller than standard Wolvie bodies if measuring from the top of the helmet against the top of the hair on a standard. Still about a quarter inch shorter than the Vulcan body or the new Punisher body. He comes with a satchel, an era appropriate machine gun, a knife that sheathes into his left boot, one trigger right hand, one open left hand, one left fist, and the two fists with false claws wrapped on, my favorite accessory for the figure. Also comes with an alternate head with a very uncharacteristic parted hair style. Doesn't fit WWII or Wolvie in general, in my mind.
The Executioner himself got a lot of love. From what I can tell, he's an all new sculpt. His arms have a straight cut at the bicep, and feature the return of spinning meat at the biceps! The forearms stay put when the bicep is rotated. I think the elbows peg directly to the shoulder. There's some fur trim on the boots I hadn't noticed in pictures, and he has some weathering on his skirt only in the front. His axe is very similar to Ares' but is 100% new as well. Lots of costume details sculpted, like the trim around his sleeves, the gloves/hands (one grip right, one left fist, two open). It's just a really great figure, and I really hope they release him as a single not too far down the line.
Enchantress is lovely. Awesome unique sculpt, though possibly reused from previous female characters if Lady Deathstrike/AoA Shadowcat had double elbows. The face looks very similar to the original, with a face print and brand new luscious hair. Still the same old heels (sculpt new ones where the heel and toe are more level!) Comes with a pair of standard female magic hands and fists, and a new magic/energy effect that clips around her wrist (remove hands first).
Not my favorite wave in terms of character selection. But collecting them all pays off mightily with Skurge and Amora together.
