Skurge the Executioner BAF Wave

First of all, it's 2 o'clock in the morning. Why the hell am I still up?

Maybe I should go back to work so I can keep normal hours again.

Second of all ... wait, what was I talking about?

Oh, yeah. Look, I don't normally make a big deal out of character selection. There are a lot of Legends figures I skip. Like X-Men 97, for instance. I'm just not a cartoon guy. I'm not at all bothered when X-Men 97 figures are announced. Quite the opposite. I'm somewhat relieved. It's money saved. A LOT of money. I'm happy for the X-Men 97 fans even though they're not my cup of tea.

I get why Hasbro makes X-Men 97 figures. They're the X-Men. That's a popular cartoon. I get it.

But Warbow? One comic run that lasted 11 issues forty years ago. No movies,, no TV shows, no cartoons and no video games. No message board threads asking for him. HE gets a figure. But does Balder? Heimdall? Anaconda? Diamondback? Martinex? Oh no. Too niche. Too obscure.

I mean what the hell here? Where's the logic?

Okay, I'm going to bed now.

Oh wow, that Iron Man is the Wakanda Ironheart Armor design. Never clocked that

Enchantress hair is new, too. More body and wild. I'm hot for it.

Now I remember—we actually do have an opponent for this Mysterium Iron Man already. He teamed up with Magneto to defeat the modern version of Nimrod that came in a three pack.

I've mentioned this before but I wouldn't doubt that Warbow and any future Crystar figures have a direct link to Steve Evans. Steve is a huge 70s/80s toy collector. there's plenty of images of his displays.
We know both Dan and Ryan pitched figures. They have said on several occasions, maybe just joking, but that they both got "one character per year". Steve is part of the Marvel team. So it's a definite possibility that if the team each "get a figure" per year, Steve's request was Warbow to add to his nostalgic display. Warbow is also economical for Hasbro since it's just a Crystar buck.

Phantom Rider is an instant buy. A western figure finally! Bring on the rest of the western heroes Hasbro! One down, many more to go! I want WBN, Enchantress, Logan and of course Skurge. No interest in Iron Man Mark 72, Warbow, or Dark Spider-Man but I will get them and get rid of them just to get Skurge. I love all the comic goodness this after years of so much MCU heavy releases. I'm sure with the two huge MCU releases next year that MCU lovers will get to eat next year but I'll enjoy this while its happening. The Inhumans two packs means I now must bite the bullet and buy Crystal and Lockjaw. I can't wait for my first grandbaby to get here in February so I can start versing him well in the world of Marvel Legends! Especially when he is old enough to actually understand me!

"The Warbow moment" will be an inflection point in ML history!

I glossed over Amora cause I was so focused on all the exciting new reveals, but she's a pretty impressive upgrade. Sculpted costume details in her torso and arms, beautiful paint, what looks like a new effects piece, and most of all that new headsculpt - that hair! Also, the promo pics look like they're showing off some improved range in the torso joint - maybe just my imagination, but some of the poses seem to move beyond what that joint can hit where it's typically used. All in all she really looks great, and it's nice to have a solid upgrade to go with Skurge.

With all this talk of Warbow I'm going to try to read Crystar. I had the one issue with Nightcrawler on the front that I picked up at a flea market as a kid - don't even remember reading that one, if I'm honest. I'll give it my best effort!

I definitely plan to build Executioner, but I will definitely need more than one, and I have so little investment or connection to most of the characters in this wave. The previous BAF waves were more of the reverse, BAFs I didn't care a lot about, with plenty of figures I totally wanted. I have to believe they'll do a single deluxe release of Skurge. They'd be insane not to. Then they'll give him the classic color scheme of the pink emblem and dark brown pants.

And that's fine. He's one of the three people on Planet Earth that still remembers Crystar and he gets to pick a figure. Okay. That's money saved for me. Well, it would be if it wasn't for the BAF thing so I guess I'm screwed, but whatever.

I just don't want to hear anyone on that team use the words "niche" or "obscure" when telling us why they can't make a character anymore. That argument has gone flying out the window. If they can stick Warbow in a wave, then they can make anyone. Up to and including The Kidney Lady.

The Mysterium Armor Iron-Man is an affront to my religion. I hated that development in the comics. Executioner looks great but I could only bring myself to pre-order Dark Avengers Spidey.
