S.H. Figuarts Marvel Figures

Given the uncertainty around the tariff situation, I went with EE. Sounds like AmiAmi would've been a waste of time, anyway.

I tried to log into my EE account and it wouldn't let me. So I clicked the "forgot my password" button and I got an email saying that my account was no longer active and I'd have to start over and create a new one. So I just went with BBTS.

I haven't really ordered much from EE, (which is probably why my account no longer works) and I use BBTS all the time, so I feel more comfortable with them anyway. The $10 deposit kind of sucked, but what the hell. I just really wanted this particular Spidey figure, so now it's just a matter of forgetting about it for few months and hopefully it will ship someday and be a hassle free transaction.

I last used EE in 2022. I went with them in case Spidey's garbage. SHF burned me a few times recently, so I'd rather not put my money where my mouth is if I don't have to.

Best to avoid a deposit when you can.
I hardly ever use EE, but I'll need to get exclusive Jada Cammy from them. In fact, Jada Chun Li was my last shipment from them because I preordered from BBTS and EE and that reminds me, EE shipped Ryu after I canceled him when he landed in my POL.

I hate limited preorders so effing much.
I always seem to find a way to get what I want without paying secondary market prices, but it’s definitely taken some of the fun out of the hobby for me. I started ordering online because I was tired of “The Hunt”. Now ordering online is becoming a virtual version of “The Hunt”.

My orders with EE seem to always end up with either them canceling or me canceling. I did receive one of the NECA quarter scale toon turtles from them a couple of years ago. I went back through my account to see what the last item they had shipped me was and it turned out to be...The Monarch and Dean Venture from The Venture Bros. Mego-style line from 2010.

Dozed off before I could try for Spidey at AmiAmi. Ah well, glad it wasn't worth staying up for.

My preference is to pre-order with Amazon since they don't require nonrefundable down payments so cancelling is easy if there's an early review revealing this guy to be a stinker. Cyclops didn't go up for sale until 3 to 7 days after it went up for sale in Japan, so I'll give them another week to list him.

Like most people I dislike that Bandai crotch...has anyone been able to tell if they get more articulation with that multi-layered design? I've got a few of them, but I haven't been able to tell yet why they do it.

I haven't personally seen any evidence they do. Compare this Vegeta to this one, which I own both of, and I can tell you the second one has way better range of motion at the hips than the one with the different layers. The first one, we'll call Blue Vegeta, can't do splits out to the side and kicks forward just shy of 90 degrees. The second one, which uses a rubber overlay, can kick forward and back past 90 degrees and go out to the side for full splits. Neither is perfect visually and which one looks better in that specific area is pretty subjective. This Spidey which is pretty cut-up like Blue boy here, sure looks like he moves a lot better at least, but I doubt the approach is entirely necessary. I'd personally take the overlay provided it's trimmed back enough around the hip and as soft as the one on this Vegeta figure with black hair.

I’m somewhat surprised that the BBTS preorder continues to remain open. Usually they sell out very quickly as well.

I know the price may be significantly higher, but I would have thought that FOMO and Tarriffpalooza would offset that.

In my experience people handle imports through BBTS much differently than they do domestic orders. If domestic products are hot and presumed to be sought after they snatch it up in mere seconds, but with imports they hang back and take the “wait and see” approach. So even figures that were a big deal when they were first announced and initially went up like the Mafex Hush Batman or Robin or that Gambit and Brown costume Wolverine, those figures stuck around for the duration of their entire preorder window and didn’t sell out until collectors on social media started capitalizing on all the hype. Hell when brown costume Wolvie was finally starting to sell like crazy, I remember it being kind of remarkable because even the yellow Wolverine started to finally disappear and folks kind of slept on that one initially.

Now obviously the same can’t be said for reissues because by that point these figures are a known quantity by that point and you really have to beat your fellow collectors to the punch. But during that initial drop, you’re not going to have to worry about fighting people in line. These figures will stick around for awhile.

I haven't seen many SHF or MAFEX sell out on BBTS for awhile. They may not even have to submit their final order to Bandai for a little while, and if that's the case, it will stay open until then. Cyclops sold extremely fast on the import shops as well, and he's still available on BBTS.

If you were waiting on Amazon, Spidey is now up on the US site:

Man, I still don't find this guy when I search on "figuarts spider-man" or "figuarts Gamerverse" for some goofy reason so thanks for sharing that! It could have been up for a while without me realizing it.

They listed Spidey as an alternate "color" variation of Cyclops like they sometimes do. Usually you can still search on the "color" variants when Amazon lists figures that way, but not this Spidey for some reason.
