Just saw that Amazon has several discounted Dragon Ball SHF figures up right now and figured it made sense to make a topic for the brand. Some of the discounts:

Dragon Ball Daima Goku Mini ($26)
Dragon Ball Daima Vegeta Mini ($23.49)
Dragon Ball Daima Piccolo Mini ($58)
Dragon Ball Super Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta ($28)

I have the SSB Vegeta and it's probably my favorite Vegeta figure in the line. Definitely worth $28. I don't have any of the Daima figures, but I grabbed a Goku since I preordered one of the spoilery Premium Bandai figures that comes with some parts for the base figure so why not? There are some other figures on sale too, but only for a few bucks. Obviously, these prices are as of the date of this post and will likely fluctuate.

Does anyone understand what's different about the S.H. Figuarts figures that Bandai now prices at $35 and are carried in retail stores such as Target? BBTS and EE also carry them at that $34.99 price point, and the Japanese retailers also list them around the same price on their own web sites.

The usual price point for the line is around $60 to $70, so I don't get why they're now releasing figures within the line at half the usual price point. Here's an example of one of them on the BBTS site that I've also seen in-store at Targets in my area:

They're mostly reuse. The Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta is a mold that's basically 7 years old at this point with the only new tooling being the head and alternate portraits. They're like introductory figures and are usually only of the most popular characters to get people into the line and hit a wider audience. As far as quality is concerned, they're on par with other releases in the line, though some of the $35 reissues (like Frieza) omit some accessories the original release featured.

Enigmatic - Misfit summed it up pretty well, but I will say some of the $35 releases have felt cheaper. The plastic tends to be shinier, much more likely to get stuck joints or loose joints. I had a SS Goku snap on my and I'm a pretty careful handler. That said, other $35 range figures I have had have been excellent. Super Hero Goku looked premium, and I prefer the Super Hero Piccolo to the Proud Namekian release, though I wish he had the cape. That said, overall, they tend to be a great deal.

Misfit - thanks for the heads up on the sale, I just grabbed mini Vegeta for my wife, who adores her Daima Piccolo and Goku. They are both very good figures, btw, though inevitably they feel a little overpriced based on size. Question for you - can you head swap the recent scouter/power level 9000 Vegeta's heads onto the SSB Vegeta's body? Might pick him up for the buck.

The heads will probably swap. I don't want to yank them off since they're not really designed to come apart there, but the neck joint looks like it's the same between both figures.

I have SSB Goku, SS Trunks, and the SSB Vegeta as far as "cheap" figures go and I don't really notice a difference in quality. SHF figures don't have a lot of paint to begin with and they compare well to the other figures I have. The SS Goku looked kind of bad because I think they used a brighter orange for the gi, like he's glowing, which just looks cheap by comparison. The older figures also don't have the updated face printing and look noticeably worse. Super Hero Goku is probably their best base Goku to date. My only issue with it is I think the white of the eyes and the symbols on the gi would have looked better with greater opacity. Not sure if the new Goku that should show up any day now is budget priced or not, but that one looks pretty good too. I just wish they would finally retire this Goku body.

My son had this happen to the $35 Naruto. The first one we bought for him had the leg fall off; it was held on by a screw that just looked stripped and wouldn't screw back in fully. We bought a replacement, and the exact same thing happened on the exact same leg. I exchanged that one for another, and the third one hasn't had that happen.

Finally getting a Goku 3.0

Looks great from what I can tell. Definitely a little buffer, more in line with his later appearance. Looks to be specifically a Cell Games version, so hopefully we can get Perfect Cell soon.

Came here to make the same comment. We've needed a Goku upgrade for years now and I'm surprised it took them this long. I think most assumed that the Gohan Super Hero figure would be quickly repurposed into a Goku. Looks like the approach is almost like a combination of that figure and the new Daima ones coming out as the double-jointed knee appears to be out in favor of what they're doing with that line. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It wasn't a great looking knee for baggy pants so this might be better, but will take some getting used to. Doesn't appear from the images circulating that much has been lost as far as range there goes. I'm definitely glad that I passed on the other Super Saiyan Goku from this era. And based on the currency conversion, it looks like this is a $35 general release (wouldn't be surprised if the tariff situation knocks that up) so if you want other eras of Goku on this body you're almost guaranteed to get it eventually. I don't know if I need another base Goku on this buck, but I'd definitely take an improved Super Saiyan Blue.

Wow, this is a cool release. I'm looking forward to trying out the new articulation. The neck is kinda funny but does answer the criticism many had about Legendary SSJ and Martialist Forever—the neck looks sunken. People were modding and or/buying extended neck pegs to balance it out. This may also allow for more head swaps.

I've been loving the Martialist Forever, and was planning to slowly build it out with some third party heads to have an all-in Goku from that era. I have SS2 and base form on preorder, but for $35 this is the same cost as a head pack, so a definite pickup.

My son and I have started to collect the One Piece Straw Hats. Is there any news to the mentioned Roamnce Dawn Sanji and Usopp?

JFC...even if I could afford it, which there's no way in hell I can, I damn sure don't have room for him...

Sucks to have that hole in the collection, but I'll say it again, JFC...

That's definitely something I don't need. I was interested in the new Krillin, but not for 80 bucks.

Krillin is $63 at Nin Nin plus shipping, but no tax. Still a pass for me, I think. I think he looks great, but I also love Earth's Strongest Man and there really isn't enough in the box to snag me. A normal smiling head would have gotten me though, and the promise he could head swap with ESM. But there are no pictures of him with other characters except Gohan, and it's hard to gauge size.

All the heads here look good but by and large nothing I really need for that price. Maybe if I catch him on sale.

Elder Guru should at least come with another Dende for that price.

I should be receiving my 3rd Party bike Goku soon from China. We'll see what tariffs do to it 😳 It looks like he has the best base form happy/neutral Goku heads so far. I'm hoping he'll head swap well with the SDCC exclusive Nimbus Goku and the Demoniacal Fit Martialist Forever. I know the pegs aren't an exact match, but I have a bunch of 3D printed ones I'm hoping will work. Still not totally satisfied with any of the Goku portraits I own. Luckily the bike Goku has an entire extra head so he can display with his hair blown back while I use the other head on a different body.

Oh, but this Krillin comes with an...interestingly shaped energy effect!

I prefer this look for Krillin, but not dramatically more than the Cell Saga version I already have. Had he been a cheap, general release I'd have considered it.
