Our resident hero
Beamish hosted the first annual
Articulated Thoughts Top 10 / Most Wanted Marvel Legends figure vote earlier this year, and we decided the Marvel Legends team needed to know about it. Last year, we delivered the results of the Fwoosh vote via trading cards, by buying up a hodgepodge of official cards across various sets and series and delivering them to the team in a homemade card pack. This year, we decided to go a step further, and we immortalized the winners in a set of custom designed trading cards + foil packs!
The full set ended up being 24 cards total, representing the top winners in 4 categories:
- 12 standard figures (to account for tied votes),
- 3 Deluxe,
- 2 Haslab
- 3 Box Set.
- 4 "Staff Picks"
- The back of each card is the same, showing the full Checklist
The "Staff Picks" was something I slipped in, representing the top wants of the AT staff (TSI, Ace ofKnaves, Damien) and also Beamish, as the champion of the top 10 vote. I didn't check with all of them since I wanted it to be a surprise, and I had a pretty good idea of who wanted what. Two caveats here: SDC, the only reason I didn't include you in this category is because the Invaders had already made the cut - otherwise, they would have been included for you! And, I must apologize to Boy Wonder, who I did not realize when making the cards was a mod here - if I had, you would have also been included. Next time!
Instead of splitting them up, each card pack contained the full set of 24 cards. Big shoutout
SDcomics for being our point man and handling all of the delivery at the con - he managed to get a set each to Dwight, Dan, Jesse Falcon, and Ryan at the show. Ryan's set also included a very nice note that TSI wrote, passing along our collective appreciation for all his contributions to making ML what it is.
SDcomics and
Beamish both shared pictures and/or stories about people's reactions to the sets from SDCC in the linked posts - check them out!
All the credit in the world for actually making the cards belongs to my very talented wife, who took this from a project I was going to DIY in Canva as a total novice and turned it into something special. They wouldn't have turned out nearly as well as they did without the time she put in to dial in the formatting, layouts, colors, etc. I've passed along some of the great feedback we got from the con and let her know her hard work was appreciated!
Pics of the full set in the next posts!
