Starting a new thread I've felt like starting for awhile - a place to talk about older Legends figures!

We all acquire figures at our own pace and as our collection changes - or matures, or shifts focus - we pick up some stuff we never had before. Here's a place to talk about things you never new your figure could do - but probably everyone else did  - and a place to talk about new, old purchases. And any questions about older figures, I feel like this could be helpful for those as well.

Picked up the Gamerverse Abomination BAF complete recently at an awesome collectibles store and this guy is SO EXPRESSIVE. His joints feel gummy, but he can hold poses and those poses are cool. The hands are really great, the detail is sharp and he has actual paint! The face is great. I just pulled him out of my suitcase and even the pose he came out of my undershirt-used-as-packaging has attitude.

I sold this guy off piece by piece when he came out - but I'm glad I got him now.

LOL, yes on the toe claws for TB X-23. If I remember right, they're also really necessary to get her to stand. I've actually got multiples of both the regular version and the chase variant. It was an easy to find clearance item back in the day even though it came with the most important part of the giant Apocalypse BAF (head and torso). It was a generic enough figure that I though that I could use it for kitbashing/customs, but I've never really done so. However there are so many X-23 clones in the comics that I should just use them as those.

What annoyed me about that Gamerverse Abomination wave was that the Iron Man was so hard to find for some reason. Mine has two of the same leg because I could never get the leg that came with Iron Man. It's not as obvious as you'd expect but it still annoys the crap out of me. That Iron Man was only the figure in that wave that didn't seem to pegwarm. The only 2 figures from that wave I bought at launch were Mach-4 and Rage. Later I picked up all of the others on clearance, except for that freaking Iron Man. The other leg came with Leader who was on clearance everywhere forever. I've considered customizing that Gamerverse Abomination into Blue A-Bomb Rick Jones but keep hoping that they'll just make that actual figure.

One of my local comic stores has a bunch of loose Marvel Legends Paladins that I've been eyeing. I've got one, but that's another figure that could easily be customized. They've got them for $9. Occasionally they run a 20% off everything in the store promotion, so when one of those comes along I'll probably pounce on several of those Paladins. They've got several Netflix Jessica Jones figures that would be good for customizing also, but they're $20 for some reason. I did buy a couple more of those Tracksuit Mafia figures at that same store when they had them for $10 each loose.

One old Toy Biz figure that I recently revisited was Avalanche from the 6" X-Men Classics line. It amazed me that TB was able to do such a good job on that figure so many years ago and then Hasbro basically phoned it on their version nearly 20 years later. A lot of the figures from that X-Men Classics line have aged relatively well (despite the ball hips, of course).

I chuckled when I came across my movie pack-ins from the first Fox X-Men movie figures. The Robert Kelly jellyfish mutation thing and the Bryan Singer cop with the donut. Those are hilarious. I also couldn't believe how loose the joints on my Patrick Stewart Xavier from that wave are though.

Don’t forget the rubber Wolverine suit that came with Mystique. It was supposed to be worn over the Mystique figure. The worst.

And the crouched Jean Grey that had a cocoon of slime around her that came with Toad. Man, there were some insane, awful pack ins with those figures.

Series 7 Ghost Rider with the eyes popping was awesome. The bike is great, and the figure was great for its time. Great unobtrusive action feature.

Not fond of store exclusives but I do miss finding variants on the shelves. It was like an extra dose of happy. Seeing shelves full and combing through to find that 1 per case or however they set it.

Don't get me started on those old X-Men movie figures! Like ya'll said- the horrific Wolverine suit ("Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?"), the floppy legged Xavier, the cop that busted apart and was held together by strings, the big glob of slime that came with Toad and was immediately covered in hair and dust, the Senator Kelly bean bag. I know they weren't Legends, but man- what a time! I still have most of those old figures. Can't seem to part with them for whatever reason. Never had any of the X2 figures, but I picked up a couple of the few X3 ones they made; part of me is tempted to pick up Juggernaut now to put with whatever other Deadpool and Wolverine figures we get, since Lord knows they ain't making another Vinnie Jones figure.

Do ya'll remember the first Legends BAF figure you completed? I think for me, it was MODOK, which, looking back now is a little odd, since back then I either didn't know or didn't care about any of those characters, really.

For me the first BAF I completed was Sentinel. I loved that whole wave at that time except for maybe the Spider-Man, but you had to buy him to get the head and upper torso for the BAF. It was so much fun back then! If I remember right the figures were only like $7.99ish at that time also.

You skipped the X2 figures?? Those were the best of the three movies! Magneto still holds up! Iceman and Cyclops were also great. Wolverine had funny head sculpts and odd body proportions, but came in like three varieties, uniform, leather jacket, and tank top.

Nightcrawler still holds up too! I have him on my multiverse shelf. I'm still salty we never got the Lady Deathstrike figure that was supposed to be in that line.

Forgot about Nightcrawler! I didn’t love that circus outfit he had, would have loved him in a uniform.

I also love that Nightcrawler figure! The only one of those X2 figures I held on to all this time. The base he came with was awesome.

My true and incredible story is that the first (and only ToyBiz) BAF I ever completed was Mojo, because I wanted a Mojo so badly. The honest truth is that there was never a BAF before that which I actually gave too much of a shit about. Even the much-vaunted Sentinel I didn't really care for because I don't really like the modern techy look for Sentinels.

The first Hasbro BAF I completed was Nemesis. And I don't think I completed another one until Juggernaut. I just rarely actually care enough about the BAFs, especially when I usually also care about less than half of any given wave.

I find that I don't really think about old ML figures beyond 'I wish they'd remake X.' Quite honestly, I don't think any of them actually hold up. Plenty of them weren't even very good when they came out. For me it's just a general feeling that I miss -- that feeling when ML was reasonably new and it was genuinely very exciting to see what they'd make next and how they'd make it. Now that it's more formulaic and the line feels more 'assembly line' than 'artistic' (not an insult, mind you), it's more a waiting game to see if they make the figures you want than, to me, any genuine excitement to see what's coming next.

To be fair, that could also be because so many characters have been made now, and the training wheels have been off for so long that nothing feels 'off the table' anymore and it's a lot harder to surprise us with a release.

Galactus was my first BAF. I was all-in at that point. I think I ended up with 4 Sentinels when that wave went on clearance - I remember picking up a few sets (on Amazon maybe?) for like $5 or less per figure. Wild stuff.

Man, I think those X2 figures were the first figures I purchased after ML3 Magneto and Wolverine pulled me into the hobby.

My mom took me to Walmart after seeing X2 and I got these two that night:

Decent figures for the time.
