Quitting/putting collecting on pause

For the first time in... God, I don't know how many years, I officially don't have any pre-orders on BBTS. To be fair, I still have some on Amazon- a handful of Legends and Black Series, so it's not like all my pre-orders are cleared out, but still. I'm doing relatively well in terms of being more selective on my buying and pre-ordering, and I'm proud of myself. Hell, I canceled a couple pre-orders just the other day because I was overly honest with myself on if I needed them right away, or could risk being patient and finding them cheap (or not finding them at all). I.... I think I'll be alright, lads.

I assess my BBTS list practically everyday. I'm at 35 items, I could probably knock a few off, but I don't fully want to at the moment. I think it was the end of '23 when I had BBTS preorders in the the high 90's.

Looks like Jada and Storm take up the most BBTS spots.

90?!?!

It's certainly not a competition but I know that I've been well over 100 on BBTS pre-orders before, some of them a year or more out at times. My pre-order list is usually several pages long. They're my go-to for everything and I order the vast majority of all Marvel Legends and DC Multiverse that come out through them plus some Joe Classified, Black Series, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, MOTU, Scooby, Simpsons, Mario, Popeye, etc, etc.

Right now is about the lowest it's ever been because not a lot has really been listed since the holidays. I only have 30 active pre-orders right now through them, which is one of the lowest my number mine has ever been. I have items pre-ordered out through 4th Quarter 2026 right now. I think the low volume for me right now is due mostly because McFarlane has listed almost nothing for pre-order since like October, I believe? And Hasbro has been intentionally spreading their stuff out.

I have bought:

Two Underverse figures.
JoyToy Metalhead
JT Dirtbag
JT Leo, Raph, Donny (after only wanting Mikey, Splinter, April, and Rocksteady)
Storm Sagat
Snail Shell P Bunny
Snail Shell Bunny Aileen Sunkissed Edition

Buuuut I have sold all the McFarlane, Classified, and Legends I wanted to free up after assessment.

So I'm ahead.

But if it were, you'd be winning :)
Nah, I bet that I'm not even even in the top 50% of pre-ordered product at BBTS. People buy way more shit than I do. I just basically only buy my stuff on pre-order. It's rare that I buy anything after it comes out or at physical retail unless it's deeply discounted (65% or more off and often that's for later re-sell). I just have a couple of heavy volume lines that I pre-order basically everything for and then a handful of other lines that I pre-order some things for. I probably pre-order right around an average of 400 total figures per year through BBTS. At any given time around one-third of that can be sitting on pre-order for months waiting to be fulfilled. Some lines have shorter pre-order windows than other. For some lines it's weeks, for others it's over a year.

For what it's worth I buy basically no premium expensive figures like Hot Toys, MAFEX, Mezco, Loose Collector or anything like that. It's is over $50 for a standard issue figure then I'm usually out. I buy mostly the cheaper domestic stuff like Hasbro, McFarlane, Mattel and Jada. I prefer the massive world building to the expensive premium handful of figures.

Well, you're a winner around these parts, and that's all that matters.
