Protest songs

I’ve been listening to protest music and was thinking we need a Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger or Phil Ochs now more than ever. Can anyone recommend some good contemporary protest songs?

Dropkick Murphys did two albums of unused Woody Guthrie material.

They also covered "Which Side are you on" many years ago.

Funny enough, Blackout has a Woody Guthrie cover as well, the title track "Gonna be a Black out". It also has Workers Song, which would fit in the theme you're looking for.

I'm not sure if any of these fit the narrow definition of a protest song, but it's the vibe I get. I also like angry.

Not sure it counts as protest song. Certainly a satirical one.

Always loved the Fugs CIA Man

As well as the Sun City Girls updated version (topically and lyrically as well) for the 80s. Not for kids or the faint of heart.

And thematically updated yet again for the surveillance state by Snapped Ankles
