Playmates TMNT x G.I. Joe

They said it at Toy Fair, I saw it in Pixel Dan's walkthrough at the time.

15.99 seems like a decent price. POs for the brothers are already sold out at Target. I think these will be an in-person impulse buy. If I see them, I'll take a closer look and decide. I don't have room for the vehicles, but I do want that April if I get the rest.

Nah. I don't need 20 USD one-off Joe-Turtles. It's a fun idea. We almost certainly will never get more than what's been shown, so it's 100% just a novelty thing. I can go for a novelty toy at 9.99-12.99 USD. Anything over that and I better be actually interested in it from more than a 'look, that's neat!' perspective.

I'm curious what kind of numbers these are produced in. It wouldn't shock me if a bunch of speculators are hot for these if they think they'll be limited with Playmates losing the license. I was never big in GI Joe so they're not for me. That Mikey is slightly tempting if I think of him as a Shore Leave mash-up, but he'd need a stache. Slash does look legitimately awesome as Storm Shadow so maybe I'd impulse buy that if I happened upon it, but I have a feeling he's going to sell very well and that probably won't happen.

I'll probably end up with Bebop and Rocksteady, but I'm not a big enough fan of GI Joe to really need anyone else. MAYBE the Destro Krang? I think it's a fun sub-collection overall, and I'll grant it has some nice color pop. Just not one for me.

These things are starting to trickle out at Target. They seem fine, though this Raph is pretty jacked up. No bicep swivel is a bummer:

Yeah, I decided these are a pass for me. On sale, I might be tempted pretty hard to just pick up Leo for my Leo collection but besides that... I just don't need these.

I may do the same, though Storm Shadow Slash is tempting.

Are Playmates SDCC exclusives obtainable online besides eBay?

That's one expensive wolf accessory, nothing about which suggests Rahzar to me, but you can't blame them for trying.

It does have a crazy monster face, but if you held a gun to my head and told me guess which movie monster wolf that toy was supposed to be I’d guess Kessler Wolf… maybe if it was brown it would look more like Rahzar? Or if they just went 2012 and made him a gloppy bone wolf?

I am whelmed.

Saw most of them at Target today, grabbed Leo. Seems like everyone in the area who found them also didn't see Mikey or Bebop, so maybe they're not immediately shipping to Target with everyone else?

He highlights everything frustrating with Playmates. There's some good and a handful of bad. Sculpting is all cool and they attempted a lot of articulation, but how much of it is useful? He's just got ball socket hips, which aren't awful, except his left leg's knife runs right into his belt, killing any side movement from there (right leg actually moves fine). Ankles don't have front facing pin, just one that goes straight down, so ankles spin, but no rocking movement to help balance any kind of dynamic stances. Double elbows are a nice touch, but the lack of any kind of bicep swivel makes it all moot. Elbros would've been fine here if they didn't want to do bicep cuts. But hey, he has wrist pivots! (That are pretty useless and would've been better to put into some other articulation)

Like, if at any point during designing this, someone at just taken the time to actually play with it and realize it's just not fun to mess with, all this stuff could've been fixed.

I didn't have big display plans for these guys, so I can't be too heartbroken, but my original plan was to at least get the four Turtles and maybe the rest if I really liked them, but now I'll probably just end with Mikey since Shipwreck is my favorite. The rest I saw looked fine, although Krang and Shredder were surprisingly small looking.
