I am whelmed.
Saw most of them at Target today, grabbed Leo. Seems like everyone in the area who found them also didn't see Mikey or Bebop, so maybe they're not immediately shipping to Target with everyone else?
He highlights everything frustrating with Playmates. There's some good and a handful of bad. Sculpting is all cool and they attempted a lot of articulation, but how much of it is useful? He's just got ball socket hips, which aren't awful, except his left leg's knife runs right into his belt, killing any side movement from there (right leg actually moves fine). Ankles don't have front facing pin, just one that goes straight down, so ankles spin, but no rocking movement to help balance any kind of dynamic stances. Double elbows are a nice touch, but the lack of any kind of bicep swivel makes it all moot. Elbros would've been fine here if they didn't want to do bicep cuts. But hey, he has wrist pivots! (That are pretty useless and would've been better to put into some other articulation)
Like, if at any point during designing this, someone at just taken the time to actually play with it and realize it's just not fun to mess with, all this stuff could've been fixed.
I didn't have big display plans for these guys, so I can't be too heartbroken, but my original plan was to at least get the four Turtles and maybe the rest if I really liked them, but now I'll probably just end with Mikey since Shipwreck is my favorite. The rest I saw looked fine, although Krang and Shredder were surprisingly small looking.
