Realizing Forgotten King and Dracula shared a body was my tipping point. And not just like...shared a base body. They literally are the same body (save the chest piece) repainted. That was so lazy and uninspired to me.

Then just getting them in hand and realizing that everyone shares the same body is just...meh. Again, I don't mind it where it makes sense. It works on superheroes and stuff. Hell, even Hasbro does it with GI Joe.

Somehow, it's never this blatant.

I think why it stands out in this line is because it’s all very fantastical, so it’s weird in a line filled with monsters and such that every body shares like 2 bodies. At $40 a pop, that gets old, especially when buying duplicates for army building.

Soldiers of fortune still being $40 a pop is just baffling to me and further makes back reuse feel worse considering that’s 8 or so reuses there. Not even mentioning the reuse again with Crimson Moon.

The line could really benefit from moving prices down like Valaverse has over the years. Does it mean more reuse? Yeah, but we’re already getting a ton of reuse at a really high price. With BBTS being the owner, manufacturer, and seller, there has to be some wiggle room and I’m willing to give up things like fancy packaging and heavy washes (which make them not work with lines like classified anyway)

And like just to reiterate, it’s not like they have a bunch of similar looking body molds because it’s a military line, through 3 waves (and Soldiers of Fortune and Crismon Moon) were only gonna have like 2.5 molds

I gotta say, Van Helsing was one of my favorite figures of the year, and their Dracula fit exactly what I wanted, but due to so much reuse I pretty quickly got to a point of "I really like these, but I only need a few." Like, the one body they do have is excellent, but it definitely needs to innovate and expand. I regret getting two different vampire soldiers because I wanted to have them be two unique characters but even with the paint differences they're tough to tell apart on the fly. I skipped the army builders after those first two and got mostly their most unique, weirdest-looking guys (I may still end up picking up the Cthulhu dude, he's interesting, and might talk myself into either a general or a scientist, but at 40 bucks a pop I'll likely skip them).

I think I'm going to be VERY satisfied with their product but not go crazy for it. I do get the FOMO though - I mean, I had to go to a different company to get an approximation of their sold out werewolf.
 
Yeah don’t get it twisted. Their product is good. It’s just too much of the same good figure at a price that leaves you wanting more.

I’m glad BBTS does t seem to be adding a tariff surcharge at the moment at least

I only have a mild interest in this line. My brain in a jar guy is processing soon. Might get some of the sleepwalker guys to be his goons.

A Creature Commandos squad may be cool to assemble. And I suppose I could justify any reuse as them all being part of the same military, so of course they’d have similar articles of clothing.

Was never really interested in the more modern tactical looking army builders.

A bunch of Marvel or Joe figures hitting at once isn’t a big deal. You can pass on some and pick them up for retail (or maybe less) down the road. How long this line sticks around will be a gamble.

From day 1 this felt out of touch. Their spoken goal was for people to buy them to customize, but then they don't come with all the customizable bits that came with the other, equally-priced dudes.

And that's where I think the real customizing is. The soldiers have different pouches and gadgets to attach to their tac vests. The original Sleepwalkers had multiple heads and a bunch of hoses and gaskets for their zeiss gas. I've found that the varying paint and customizable load-out goes a long way with me to hide that they all have the same pants.

And as a minor success to the shared parts, I have a regular soldier AND a zombie soldier on the way, confident that I can swap out arms and legs to make at least two distinct zombies to go with the two included zombie heads. That's two unique zombies for the price of two.

Honestly, the only time I felt the line suffered from re-used parts is that the Frankenstein is the same size as everyone else. And I guess I thought it weird that the mummy and the Dracula are both so muscular under their too-tight coat sleeves.
 
I want this concept. I do, I love it. It definitely scratches an itch.

But to just hammer it home: it's the execution. Like Fletch just said, again buff mummy guy? A human sized Frankenstein? Just not for me. I have preconceived ideas of these monsters, and it deviates too far from what I know and recognize and appreciate.
 
The human/same buck Frankenstein is an odd choice, but I actually like this one because it gives me a different scale from the lanky MFer 4H put out (which I LOVE but he's a tall drink of water, doesn't scale with other stuff super welll). I scooped Donner so I could have a variation on the stitched together man, and his overlays set him apart from other figures in the line.

It SHOULD bug me that Eraser is 90% the same figure as the others, but I'll flat out admit, the translucent forearms? Okay, fine, I bit on that. Just a bit o this invisible body sticking out is a really fun touch. But I'm not gonna go crazy chasing down one of the con exlusive all-clear versions.

Flat out ordered brain in a jar by accident preordering a Classified figure and instead of canceling decided that was my dumbass subconscious telling me something.

So why are you so pissed again about all of this pre-order shipping at once since you don't seem to actually like them that much?

I honestly get the original reaction. Hasbro just absolutely hammered me shipping all their Gamerverse stuff, Mandarin 2-pack, GI Joe 2-pack, on and on... $200 of FMF pre-orders (for me) showing up at the same time isn't ideal. But I'm excited enough about the line that I'm more excited to add them than upset about the pile of charges.

So, out of all of that, you got that I'm pissed about the preorders dropping?

I can't walk you through what the actual point was if that was what you got out of it. But you're wrong. Just know that.
 
Fair enough.... you did say you dropped the line previously, but then you went on at length about the disrespect to the customers of dropping so much at once when its a 'secondary' line, so it confused me.

Whatever... I'm stoked for this line, I'll leave you to be as bitter about it as you like.
