Operation Monster Force

So we have vampire troops, zombie troops, clandestine armies (Crimson Moon), Old God cult troopers, a donut eating Sasquatch, a few werewolves, Mummy King, and government agents that take vampire infused steroids. What corner of monster-dom haven't been covered? Attack dog Chubacabra's? Fish men from Atlantis? Lizard people from the center of the earth?

P.S. All this Keanu talk and no mention of Bill and Ted makes me a bit sad.
We're missing some proper ghosts I think. The 13 Ghosts are cool, but I'm thinking something more classic gothic romance.

For a line all about monsters we're missing some creepy crawlies. How about a Jorogumo as an antagonist to the 13 Ghosts?

We are definitely missing lizard and fish people.

How about creepy Japanese butt monster?

If they did something along the lines of the sea guy on Monster Squad, that would be neat.
He was cool till fat kid cold blasted him with a 12 gauge.

Jesus Christ on a stick but... I opened this thread half absent mindedly at work immediately before someone came to my desk to ask me something, so I glimpsed that and had such a massive grin when I turned to the person because I wasn't able to repress my laugh entirely.

Thank you for this though. I shall treasure it.

Well... That could be true about anybody!

Damnit. Yeah. We've talked about this and how terrifying I found Lair of the White Worm and such. Meanwhile, I fell utterly in love with Monica Bellucci and envied Keanu Reeves like mad with Dracula so yeah...
-gill-man/swamp creature
Yes please.
-demons
-wendigo/cryptids
Yeah definitely!
-batlike vampires
Oooooooo, I still have the McFarlane bat version of Gary Oldman but would love this. Marcus on Underworld 2 was the best thing to me about that entire franchise.

Ahh Underworld. My friends took me to that movie and they were so expecting me to love it and they were DEVASTATED when I walked out going “jeeeeeeezus, other than Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy that whole movie was POOP”.
Somehow I still saw the second one in theatres and yeah that Marcus design was not-bad.
I *do* like the Rise of the Lycans movie though.

We actually watched the first one again for the first time since it came out last week for our family movie night thing, and the kids rightfully stormed out as soon as the credits rolled. Agreed about Sheen and Nighy. Both have to put effort in to be bad though. But it was amazing to me just how painful it was to watch and suffer through the names and the lore and dialogue that would make Lucas cringe.

I like literal batmen heh.

I never got to that one. With the kids not caring to continue the franchise, I likely never will now.

Oh man to this day every time I hear someone use “Lycan” to refer to werewolves I cringe SO HARD. Also why all that lore if they are all just pretty people in leather with machine guns shooting at each other? Literally no difference between the vampires and werewolves save for the infrequent transformations into the lamest wolf-things this side of Van Helsing.

I never got to that one.
My wife literally forced me to watch it just a couple years ago. More Sheen, more Nighy, no Selene (jeeeez Kate Beckinsale, you were a wonderful Shakespearean actor once!!!!) nor Scott Speedman, it’s in medieval times and the werewolves act more like werewolves and the vampires act more like vampires. It’s not *great* but it’s very fun dark-fantasy stuff with decent gothic atmosphere, and it’s way way WAY better than literally all the rest of the films put together.

Right?!? There was a point where I wasn't even sure which side was which. It's just a bunch of people in black shooting other people in black! Once in a while you'll get one wolfing out then crawling on the wall the way dogs do.

Do we blame Wiseman? I feel comfortable blaming Wiseman.

Ok... Ok maybe.

Sorry I'm late to the party, but...

I thought Keanu was actually pretty good in My Own Private Idaho and A Scanner Darkly. When an action movie only calls for a one-note hero, he's usually tolerable. When other genre movies require more depth or subtlety or just an accent, he can be comically painful to watch. AND YET by almost universal account, he's an incredibly kind, humble, and otherwise amazing dude. I always feel a little bad calling out what an underwhelming actor he is.

I've read that he's done a lot acting work to prepare for his Broadway debut in Waiting for Godot with Alex Winter so maybe he'll show us all yet.

That's right. Bill & Ted are doing Samuel Beckett.

Man, A Scanner Darkly, that film stuck with me in really strange ways. And I love that they're doing Beckett. Honestly I could see him doing Beckett specifically well, because of Beckett's cadence.

True story: I got to witness Keanu almost start a fight between two casinos. His band was playing at one casino but he stopped by a comic con at the other local casino (where I was tabling) to talk up his own comic for a few hours. He asked if he could get a tee shirt from the con so the show runner gave him one, but it had the second casino's logo on it. Keanu wore that shirt on stage at the RIVAL casino that night and almost caused an international incident. Truly the most Keanu Reeves thing I could imagine happening.

The show runner also had to explain furries to him, and when he asked if it was a sex thing and the show runner said "sometimes?" Keanu went, I shit you not: "whoa."

Same. And also I actually think he’s way better now. John Wick didn’t grab me like it seems to have grabbed some others, but I liked him well enough there. And I thought he was legit great in The Neon Demon. He seems to have acquired more gravitas with age and there’s just less of the “whoa, dude!” about him. Also I think he’s choosing his projects more wisely and playing to his strengths.

The Fish Men from Atlantis thing seems like a decent bet. One of the Crimson Moon Red Shadows homage characters we don't have yet is the Kraken. I know they have to be a little careful, but it wouldn't shock me to get some Fish Men type figures that can be swapped into Crimson Moon Kraken.
